Fans of the MGallery by Sofitel brand are in luck today with the opening of another five-star property from the renowned hotel group. The William Inglis Hotel, MGallery by Sofitel is the newest hotel in the group’s collection of boutique properties and it’s sure to get the crowds galloping with its horsey theme.
You don’t have to travel far for a dose of equestrian luxury as The William Inglis Hotel, MGallery by Sofitel is situated just 45 minutes away from Sydney’s CBD. Developed by thoroughbred horse sales company William Inglis & Son Ltd called Riverside Stables, this $140m project features 144 elegantly appointed guest rooms set across eight levels.
The hotel will service the racing industry and clients with auctions and races, but will also be a major drawcard for regional tourism across both the corporate and leisure sectors.
All of the hotel’s guest rooms have a unique theme and are named after one of the many champion racehorses sold through the sales rings. The biggest, on Level 8, is the Presidential Suite – named the Black Caviar Suite.
Each room features an artistic painting of the winning jockey silks and an image or original artwork of the horse. In addition to this, the entrance to each room will include a replica of the original winner’s plaque from the Newmarket barns.
The William Inglis Hotel, MGallery by Sofitel features an all-day dining paddock-to-plate restaurant called Newmarket Room. The restaurant is headed up by chef Samuel Bull and offers a menu focusing on robust food with rural soul but refined elegance, all served under an entire wall of Group 1-winner plaques.
There’s also a whisky lounge on the mezzanine level of the hotel named in honour of the year William Inglis and Son was founded. 1867 Lounge is a high-end whisky and wine bar, offering a sophisticated cocktail menu, whisky selection, specialised champagne list and bar snacks.
A stunning rooftop bar and pool deck takes pride of place atop the hotel. The Chiltern Pool Deck & Bar is the only pool in the world where you can relax on cabanas and sun loungers while overlooking 300 acres of greenery and watch the races from above. Named after the Chiltern Stables, an important part of the Newmarket history and the Inglis story, the bar will feature the original signage from the Newmarket site and serve cocktails and pool snacks.
