Tripadvisor's Best of the Best Trending Destinations are in for 2024: Japan, South Korea, Vietnam and the Philippines are the places to be.
The illustrious Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best list for 2024 has been released, with Dubai named the Top Destination in the World for the third year in a row, Asian cities leading the trending destinations category and Vietnam’s Hanoi topping the wishlist for foodies.
The winners – selected by receiving 'a high volume of above-and-beyond reviews' over the past year – fall into seven classifications, including best cultural destinations and best trending destinations. This year saw the introduction of two new categories: best honeymoon destinations and best sustainable destinations.

"Winners like Dubai, Tokyo, Paris and Marrakech indicate that our community has an unbridled appetite for destinations with vibrant arts-and-culture scenes, top-notch restaurants and seemingly limitless attractions and experiences,” said Sarah Firshein, head of editorial at Tripadvisor, in the announcement. “It's also great to see a rebound on long-haul trips to Asia, with the region having fully opened up post-pandemic; as Tripadvisor's trending destinations list shows, travellers are keen to get out there and explore with gusto."
Tokyo, Seoul and Halong Bay in Vietnam claim the top three spots on the trending destinations list, which showcases regions that have witnessed the greatest year-over-year growth in interest.
Dubai has claimed the principal position within the top destination category for the third year running. Bali, London, Hanoi and Rome trail closely behind.

While European cities like Lisbon and Florence dominate half of the top 10 best food destinations, the continent has been unable to beat Hanoi’s street food culture, renowned for banh mi (a sandwich of lemon-infused pork and pate) and pho. Cuba sits on top of the culture destination list; Bali takes first place for best honeymoon destinations and Copenhagen wins best sustainable destination.
