Best bars in Bali with a view

Rock Bar, Jimbaran

A busy cocktail bar set atop beach cliffs, overlooking a dusky ocean horizon.
Rock Bar, AYANA Resort Bali.

Widely regarded as Bali’s most popular sunset destination, this bar totally rocks. With its main bar set atop the cliffs like a stage for the sun, plus design that spares no expense and exemplary parties full of fire and flair, no place in Bali does it up like Rock Bar.

Savaya Bali, Uluwatu

With a glittering chandelier cube on a platform suspended 100 metres above the limestone cliffs and jungle of Uluwatu, and a hit line-up every weekend, this is hands down the place to see and be seen getting down to Diplo, Guy Gerber and more amid vibes straight out of Vegas.

Sayan Valley, Ubud

Ubud’s newest hilltop bar harmonizes a succinct menu of cocktails, fine wines and Asian-fusion tapas with intimate views across the Ayung River. Stop in after dark for a hazelnutty banana old fashioned, chocolate mousse with coffee caviar and other sweet indulgences.

Galle Club, Ubud

Hot off its March debut, Bali’s first Sri Lankan restaurant is slinging a cocktail menu with native flavours like nutmeg, pandan and ceylon tea. Enjoy a family style meal full of spice with friends, followed by micro-plantation fine teas after dinner.

SHUN Omakase Counter, Canggu

This 18-seat chef’s bar serves up nuanced sake bottlings paired with positively salacious nigiri that comes bedded upon fluffy clouds of rice like flowing silken bed sheets. Sensuous cocktails like the pretty plum wine negroni round out this truly aphrodisiac experience.

Best speakeasy bars in Bali

40 Thieves, Petitenget

Looking for something a bit less Bali, a bit more New York City? With an industrial 1940s do-up, soft brown leather furnishings and a tight list of classic cocktail riffs, this joint will even top off your drink with fiery house-fermented ginger beer poured from a gas canister.

The BARber, Jimbaran

Hidden by a 1930s-style barbershop within The Sintesa Hotel, this cavernous venue has hijinks aplenty including a pool table, a baby grand piano and a delectable back bar of premium single malts and spirits that you can even sip on while the friendly man out front cuts you a new ‘do.

Night Rooster, Ubud

Behind the unassuming door of a tiny red house, squished in an off street, discover this super-cool concept from the rebellious Locavore NXT team. These talented alchemists brew their own rice wine and spin drinks with garnishes like snake fruit powder, pickled java plum and stuffed betel leaves.
