Spinner Dolphins & DJ Sets: This Brand-New Maldives Resort is a Game-Changer
Rah Gili is a new private-island resort with a mischievous streak – overwater slides, spinner dolphins, coconut cocktails and teppanyaki, all within a 40-minute speedboat ride of Malé.
Opened in February 2026, the first resort from Six & Six Private Islands offers a Maldives private island retreat that’s making waves for its playful approach to luxury. Across 74 private-pool villas, Rah Gili’s version of island life makes room for both privacy and a little mischief: overwater slides drop directly into the lagoon, spinner dolphins frolic in the surrounding waters and poolside lounge Amrit serves cocktails in a coconut and resident DJ sets.
Rah Gili can do quiet, but it would rather give you somewhere to play – whether that’s in the ocean, on the sand or while catching bowls and sipping Japanese whisky at the resort’s teppanyaki den.
One of the best resorts we have ever stayed at! The ocean is crystal clear, the villas are spacious, and everything is exceptionally clean. The boat transportation with private cabins was very comfortable.
What truly made our stay special was the outstanding service. Every staff member was so friendly and genuinely happy to help, especially our butler (Hosni) and other staff members: (Sejal, Armicca, Shartha, Kishan, Arisha, Kishan).
The food was another highlight, everything was delicious, especially at Juliette and Tiffin restaurants. A special thank you to (Chef Bhargava) for the amazing hospitality and exceptional food!

As we returned home, we couldn't leave without expressing our sincere gratitude to every member of your incredible team.
Our overwater villa was simply breathtaking—spacious, beautifully designed, and thoughtfully planned. We especially loved the separate walk-in wardrobe with its own private entrance, which kept the bedroom cool, clean, and organized while making access to the shower and bath tub incredibly convenient.
The crystal-clear ocean, the endless turquoise views, and the fun water slide made every single day unforgettable.
What truly elevated our stay was the dining experience. Every meal was exceptional, and your talented chefs specifically Mr . Nishesh deserve the highest praise. From the outstanding breakfast to the elegant à la carte restaurants, every dish was prepared with care, creativity, and incredible flavor.
We also want to thank the activities and diving team, especially Sujit, for being knowledgeable, and making every experience enjoyable.
Finally, a heartfelt thank you to our butle Mr. Hosny , who was always available, incredibly attentive, and often anticipated our needs before we even asked. His professionalism and genuine care made our stay effortless.
Thank you for creating memories that we will treasure forever. We are already looking forward to returning to RAH GILI.

The island is beautiful, peaceful, and perfect for a relaxing getaway. The villas are spacious, well-maintained, and offer stunning ocean views.
The staff were warm, friendly, and always ready to help with a smile. The food was excellent with a good variety of options, and the overall service exceeded expectations.
The crystal-clear water, white sandy beaches, and breathtaking sunsets made every moment special. A perfect destination for couples, families, or anyone looking for a luxurious Maldives experience.

In the few days we stayed, we found a lot of joy with some people working here the facilities and island itself. This place is definitely good if you are looking exciting slides and rooms with wonderful views. The room service at night prepares us to sleep with small details. The safety guards were also always there helping and supporting us.
However, we also encountered some issues that we would want to share.
– Took 2 h for a 3 course meal. If there’s an option with faster food serving for the ones who have later plans, it would be great to increase efficiency especially during popular holiday season.
– Hard to get a restaurant reservation, a lot of people could only get a spot starting at 8pm this is a problem bc some people missed lunch snorkeling and jet lagged. It could be solved if one of the restaurants is open from the morning to the evening.
– The dressing mirror gives a yellowish and dim light, it could especially effect the ones who need light to do there makeup. ( the mirror does give a good view though.
The rest are some small suggestions:
– Would be better if breakfast menu is shown when clients are introduced to the table— we met someone who didn’t know that they could order by menu.
– Could add Hangers out door for swimsuits
– bin could be placed in the bathroom(not placed outside), have to go out to throw the garbage eg: period
Overall, these are some things we would want to share and suggest. The stay here with the team was a wonderful time and we hope this could help as a review.
You can reach the island without boarding a seaplane
Rah Gili sits in South Malé Atoll, approximately 40 minutes by speedboat from Malé’s Velana International Airport. After a long international flight, the proximity matters: you can skip both a domestic connection and the restrictions of a daylight-only seaplane schedule.
The ride gives Malé enough time to recede and the water to sharpen into bands of blue, yet you can still be barefoot beside the pool before the journey starts to feel like an expedition. If you’re weighing up atolls and transfer options, our first-time Maldives guide explains how speedboats, seaplanes and domestic flights compare.
Spinner dolphins are part of the neighbourhood
Visit Rah Gili at the right time (November–April) and the waters are frequented by spinner dolphins, named for the rotating leaps that send them above the surface. Their presence gives the island a playful signature that no designer could reproduce.
Seasonal, weather-dependent outings search for pods in open water, with sightings left – as they should be – to the dolphins. Back at the island, the lagoon, house reef and surrounding dive sites keep the sea at the centre of each day.
The dining is designed to entertain
Choosing dinner is part of the fun across Rah Gili’s six restaurants. At Tiffin (named after the traditional Indian tiered lunchbox), diners embark on a culinary odyssey through India, roaming from fiery northern dishes to the coconut-based curries of the south. Maakeyolhu looks to Maldivian fishing culture, serving grilled seafood and reef fish to the beat of Boduberu drums.
Teppan seats just eight people around its iron grill, where flames, knife work and the inevitable onion volcano turn dinner into theatre. La Tavola takes handmade pasta and wood-fired pizza over the water, while Juliette moves from sunrise breakfast to themed evenings with live music.
Then there’s Amrit, the pool bar and lounge where Rah Gili is at its most sociable – relaxed, barefoot and happy to have sand as the dance floor. DJ sets and tropical cocktails make it the
Every villa has a private pool – and some have waterslides
Every one of Rah Gili’s 74 spacious villas has a private pool, whether positioned along the beach or above the water. The overwater categories add a curved slide from the deck into the lagoon – ostensibly for children, though adults may claim it for themselves.
Sunset-facing villas angle their decks westward, while two-bedroom beach and overwater options give families and friends room to spread out. The design is polished, but the slide captures the resort’s personality best: the ocean isn’t just scenery here – it’s an invitation.
You can lower the tempo when the mood changes
Rah Gili does not stay at full volume all day. Five treatment rooms sit beside a breezy yoga pavilion, where sunrise sessions and sunset sound baths bookend the daylight.
Start with movement as the sky brightens, spend the afternoon in the lagoon, then let the pace soften as the sun drops. Back at your villa, the private pool offers the simplest way to disappear for an hour – no schedule, no soundtrack, just warm water and the sound of the sea lapping against the shore. The contrast is a key part of the Rah Gili experience.
