The Star Grand Brisbane’s prime position in Queen’s Wharf precinct means you can walk to some of the newest and most exciting entertainment in the city. Also accessible by foot are the QPAC events hub, the Queensland Museum and the Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA). The precinct itself is also a place with “art at its heart” and it has procured a huge collection of art from Australia’s most cutting-edge contemporary artists, including Brisbane-born sculptor and painter, Lindy Lee.

Luke Nguyen’s Fat Noodle offers the zing and zest of South-East Asia, Japanese restaurant Sokyo shows off the sashimi artistry of chef Alex Yu and Babblers is a family-friendly, all-day diner. You can order authentic Italian at Cucina Regina, Latin American bites at Azteca and try Mediterranean-inspired Dark Shepherd all found at the hotel’s dining destination The Terrace.

Book one of the 340 guestrooms that are a lesson in understated luxury with muted tones, flashes of gold and many with fantastic views of the riverside action. The Star group never does things by halves and the rooms here are huge. The River King Rooms have a lounge area, massive LED screens and those views. Sky Deck is Brisbane’s brand-new, elevated playground sitting 100 metres above the ground and packed with food and beverage options. It was recently announced that Michelin-trained chef Shayne Mansfield would take the reins of Cicada Blu, Babblers and Aloria, the three eateries sitting sky-high above the Brisbane River. Brisbane-born-and-raised, Shayne is just back from a stint in London where he worked at Michelin-starred City Social.
