The swirling Hollywood rumour mill has been put to bed, with the next season of HBO’s The White Lotus headed to Thailand.

Following months of speculation, the Land of Smiles was officially announced as the setting for the third instalment of the smash TV series. Tourism Authority Thailand (TAT) and HBO both released official statements, confirming that filming is slated to begin in February, taking place in Bangkok, Phuket and Koh Samui. “We are honoured to have amazing Thailand featured as the filming location for the highly anticipated upcoming season of The White Lotus. The kingdom’s exotic natural beauty, rich historical sites and diverse landscapes are the perfect settings to share our fascinating culture, fantastic cuisine, top-notch wellness and luxury offerings, and most importantly our people and Thai hospitality,” said Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TAT Governor, in a press release.

While details around which hotels will take up starring roles have yet to be revealed, the full cast list has been locked in. Checking into the new season, currently scheduled for release in 2025, includes Jason Isaacs, Michelle Monaghan, Parker Posey, Leslie Bibb, Carrie Coon, Walton Goggins and Patrick Schwarzenegger. Natasha Rothwell, known for her turn as spa manager Belinda Lindsey from the first season, will also be returning.

Hawaii and Sicily, locations for season one and two respectively, welcomed a boom of visitors following their spells on the silver screens and tourism operators in Thailand likely expect the same. Those wanting to get ahead of the setjet trend will want to take note now and book their escape to Thailand before the new season drops.
