Sofitel Melbourne on Collins Sparkles with a First Nations Fashion Show at Diamond Jubilee Party

The French hotel brand celebrated 60 years with First Nations fashion brand NGALI and bottles of specially made Champagne.

Marking the hotel brand’s diamond jubilee, Sofitel Melbourne on Collins chose to celebrate its 60th birthday by combining with 60,000 years of First Nations creativity at an event on July 1 at the hotel’s Club Lounge dubbed La Soiree: A Symphony of Sparkles.

With the backdrop of the city of Melbourne by night, and in a room twinkling with candlelight, guests were treated to a runway show by NGali, a celebrated Indigenous fashion brand that tells stories through its prints and designs.

Stephan Leroy, general manager of Sofitel Melbourne on Collins, said the event was a testament to the hotel’s commitment to creativity; Sofitel Melbourne on Collins regularly partners with local theatre events like the recent outing of the musical Chicago and more recently a Pharaoh high tea inspired by the Melbourne Winter Blockbuster exhibition at the NGV.

“We are honoured to have showcased the incredible talents from our amazing local community, reflecting the diversity and artistic spirit that Melbourne is renowned for,” said Stephan. “This evening was a testament to our commitment to delivering exceptional experiences to our guests.”

The event also featured a musical performance by Lisa Grosman of the Australian World Orchestra.

The event was sponsored by Pommery Champagne and assembled guests were the first in Australia to sample a special 60th birthday Champagne. This one-off bubbly will be showcased in the special diamond jubilee cocktail, the Crystal Martini, available at The Atrium on 35 for the whole month of July.
