6 Ways The Langham Gold Coast Isn’t Your Typical Queensland Escape

The Langham, Gold Coast and Residences - Luxury Escapes

Forget what you know about standard Queensland stays; this five-star escape is anything but.

The Langham is a hotel brand that needs (almost) no introduction; it is synonymous with elegance and a favourite with discerning travellers wanting to elevate their stay, no matter the destination. The Langham, Gold Coast and Jewel Residences is one of the latest, well, jewels, in the hotel group’s already gilded crown. Ushering in a new wave of luxury to the shores of the Gold Coast in Queensland, this prestigious newcomer is unlike any other stay to open here. Find out why below.

1. It’s the first new beachfront luxury hotel on the Gold Coast for more than 30 years

After more than eight years in the making, the completion of the $1.4 billion Jewel development broke new ground for The Langham hotel group. Not only was the build of The Langham, Gold Coast and Jewel Residences the first beachfront hotel on the Gold Coast to open in three decades, but it’s also the inaugural property type for The Langham Group. This opulent outpost has 169 hotel rooms and 170 residences, positioned between Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach. The namesake hotel is the tallest of the three towers, with direct access to the beach.

2. The architecture is a new icon of the Gold Coast skyline

The trio of jewel-like towers, the tallest of which is home to The Langham, instantly catch the eye amid the Gold Coast’s skyline with their organic shapes and multifaceted, glittering facades. With a design that wouldn’t look out of place amongst Dubai’s cutting-edge skyscrapers, the towers are a stylish departure from more atypical Queensland beachfront stays.

3. It’s bringing the Michelin-starred T’ang Court Cantonese restaurant to Australia for the first time

For dim sum that’s a cut above the rest, The Langham’s T’Ang Court is the region’s newest Chinese restaurant with an international award-winning legacy. Inspired by its Michelin-starred siblings in Hong Kong and Shanghai, this latest location has already been awarded one Chef Hat by the Australian Good Food Guide. Expect a distinctive Cantonese fine-dining experience that channels southern Chinese cuisine while showcasing local produce. Menu standouts include dry-aged duck pancake, honey-glazed pork short rib and mud crab in homemade XO sauce, all complemented by a choice selection of wine.

4. The palatial Jewel Residences offer up to four bedrooms, high in the sky

The Langham’s Jewel Residences, located on floor 22 upwards, offer one- to four-bedroom abodes perfect for extended stays. Each residence has expansive balconies, generous light-filled living areas and gorgeous views around every turn. The cherry on top is the Four Bedroom Ocean Penthouse with stunning 180-degree outlooks of both the ocean and Gold Coast Hinterland, plus a spacious dining area and gourmet kitchen equipped with premium Gaggenau appliances. These impeccably designed residences have sky-high lavish living down to a science.

5. You can indulge in The Langham’s famous afternoon tea at Palm Court

As at The Langham in London – the birthplace of the Palm Court afternoon tea, where the tradition has been undertaken since 1865 – guests at the new Gold Coast hotel can now also indulge in this heritage-laden ritual. Previously only available in Australia at The Langham Melbourne or Sydney, this quintessential experience is now available on the sunny shores of Queensland, hosted in the hotel’s poolside Palm Court. The intricate menu is inspired by the hotel’s century-long legacy; think fluffy scones with cream and preserves, lobster bagel, duck foie gras tart and pear and almond madeleines. And don’t forget sips of local sparkling, French champagne or aromatic Tavalon tea to wash it down with.

6. The oceanside Chuan Spa uses the expertise of traditional Chinese medicine

With a name meaning ‘a tranquil flow of water’, it is no wonder that Chuan Spa is the embodiment of serenity. With soft, calming hues across its couples’ room steam showers, saunas, magnesium indoor pool and treatment rooms, this space is a true haven from the outside world. Treatments take from traditional Chinese medicine, with each personalised journey beginning with a questionnaire to ensure your treatment is tailored to your diet, rhythm and seasonal changes. The spa uses iKOU products, a high-performance skincare range created in the Blue Mountains, during treatments ranging from signature massages to the luxurious Langham True Gold, which includes head-to-toe 24kt gold therapy.
