You may be surprised by the romance on offer in Bangkok: here’s why you should consider the Thai capital for your honeymoon.

With spectacular natural wonders, awe-inspiring historical sites, a thriving nightlife, exciting shopping opportunities and locals who are thrilled to welcome you into their world, it’s not hard to see why Bangkok is the best destination for your honeymoon. There’s so much to do in this gorgeous city, you’ll find fun no matter what your tastes are. After days of exciting experiences, there’s nothing like watching a golden sunset turn into a sparkling night sky over the city – a sight Bangkok is renowned for. Let’s take a look at more great reasons to honeymoon in Bangkok.

When to visit Bangkok for a honeymoon

While you can visit Thailand at any time, it does have a tropical monsoon climate, so there are specific times of year that are better than others. Ideally, late November to early April is a good time to visit, because it’s sunny and fairly dry, but not too hot. If you love the heat though, you can visit during Summer (between March and June) when the temperature is between 25°c and 35°c. July to October is the country’s rainy season and it’s ok to visit then, but just be aware that some tours and attractions may not operate during this time.

What to do and see in Bangkok

Wat Arun

These are some of Bangkok’s most popular attractions that are considered a ‘must-do’ for visitors.

The Grand Palace – built in 1782, this huge palatial complex is romantic, historically fascinating and architecturally beautiful. This sacred site is perfect for couples’ photos. Expect to spend many hours here.

Wat Pho – right next door to The Grand Palace, this spectacular temple is Bangkok’s oldest. It’s home to the huge (45-metre long) Reclining Buddha statue, among many other fascinating artefacts.

Wat Arun – this ancient 104-metre-tall temple dates back to the Ayutthaya Period. You can climb the central prang (tower) for glorious views over the city. Best time to visit is at sunset for memorable photos and views.

Lumpini Park – this peaceful park has 142-acres of lush, colourful garden and a central pond where you can take a romantic ride in a swan paddle or row boat.

Asiatique The Riverfront – this huge open-air mall has shopping, dining, museums, markets, attractions and a Ferris wheel with stunning skyline views. A great place to spend a day and evening with your beloved.

Safari World and Marine Park – this exciting drive-through zoo and marine park has a huge range of animal species from all over the world, as well as multiple demonstrations and animal feeding experiences.

There are many more amazing attractions in Bangkok, but these are sure winners.

Unforgettable dining

Saffron Sky Garden at Banyan Tree Bangkok

Bangkok is full of mouthwatering dining options. From street stalls to top-notch restaurants, you’ll easily find a traditional Thai meal or international fare that will leave you wanting more. For a romantic touch, why not enjoy a dinner cruise on the scenic Chao Phraya River, or indulge in some rooftop dining at one of the many popular rooftop restaurants and bars? We recommend Vertigo at the Banyan Tree Bangkok or the Rib Room and Bar at The Landmark for a great mix of delicious food, awe-inspiring views and great service.

Thrilling nightlife

Bangkok at night is a truly different world, full of fun, excitement and plenty of wild partying. The city is well-known for its entertainment districts and whether you want a quiet drink at a bar, a dance at a banging nightclub or a festive street party, the city is up for the night right there with you. Popular nightlife locations include Patpong, Khao San Road, Nana, Si Lom and Sukhumvit.

Fascinating culture

Besides the glorious temples and palaces mentioned earlier, there are many attractions in Bangkok that allow you to explore the vast culture, history and traditions of this amazing city.

Muang Boran – this truly fascinating ancient city is a 300-acre open-air museum that’s the epitome of Thailand’s history and culture. As you walk through each section that represents a certain time and place in Thai history, you’ll feel like you’re actually there. There’s nothing quite like it, it’s just phenomenal.

Bangkok National Museum – this huge museum houses Thailand’s most extensive collection of art and artefacts. There’s Thai history, archaeology, art and ethnology exhibits that will keep you busy for hours.

Romantic accommodation & luxurious pampering

Sindhorn Kempinski Bangkok

There are so many hotels in Bangkok that just exude romance. From huge, comfy beds to in-room spa baths, sipping champagne while gazing out your window or balcony across the sparkling city at sunset, room service and lazy sleep-ins, staying in luxury accommodation is an essential facet of a honeymoon. You definitely need to book a hotel with a day spa for the best experience.

What could be better than relaxing with a couple’s massage alongside your sweetheart? Maybe a sauna or hydrotherapy session after a few hours of couple’s yoga or Muay Thai? How about a hammam or aromatherapy facial? We recommend the sublime Sindhorn Wellness by Resense at the Sindhorn Kempinski, Kempinski The Spa by Siam Kempinski Hotel and the Oriental Spa at Mandarin Oriental for the best pampering experience in the city.
