Sunset Swims and Sea Turtles at The Seminyak Beach Resort & Spa

A beachfront address, Balinese-inspired rooms and a 45-metre infinity pool set the scene at The Seminyak Beach Resort & Spa.

There is an hour on Seminyak Beach when the light softens, the Indian Ocean glows and the pace of the day slows to match it. At The Seminyak Beach Resort & Spa, that hour is best met from the 45-metre infinity pool or from a table above the sand at Sanje Restaurant & Lounge. When the pace picks up again, Seminyak’s restaurants, boutiques and beach clubs are close at hand. Balinese-inspired rooms, tropical gardens and ponds set the tone, and in the right season, guests may even be invited to watch newly hatched Olive Ridley turtles released into the sea. Here are five reasons to consider the hotel for your next Bali escape.

Seminyak Beach on your doorstep

The Seminyak Beach Resort & Spa sits right on the sand in central Seminyak. The Indian Ocean is just beyond, and Ku De Ta is next door, placing you at the heart of what Seminyak has to offer.

Beyond the resort, the area is a study in contrasts: barefoot beach bars, slick cocktail lounges, market stalls and chic designer boutiques, all close at hand. A morning can belong entirely to the shoreline, and the evening can carry on into dinner, a sunset drink or a late wander with no transport to arrange.

An infinity pool made for sunset

The 10-by-45-metre infinity pool faces the Indian Ocean, with sunbeds and a pool bar alongside. It is the kind of pool that rewards slowness: a long, unhurried swim, a drink within reach and a horizon that never quite sits still. As the afternoon softens, the water takes on the colour of the sky, and the whole scene turns to gold.

The beach awaits only a short walk from the loungers, so a dip in the ocean is never far from a dip in the pool. For livelier hours, a second pool with a swim-up bar offers a more social setting.

A rewarding turtle release programme

Every season, the resort’s Olive Ridley conservation programme watches over the nests found along its own stretch of beach. The team protects and monitors each one, and once the hatchlings emerge, they are cared for until they are strong enough to meet the waves. It is quiet, patient work, and it gives this stretch of Seminyak a purpose beyond the pool and the sunset.

Guests may be invited to join a release, and the moment is as moving as it sounds. In August 2025, after a nest was discovered in front of the resort in mid-June, 86 hatchlings were released into the ocean at five in the afternoon, with the resort team and guests there to see them off. As the conservation team put it, the programme is about “reconnecting with nature and giving back to the environment.” Releases are seasonal and depend entirely on the turtles, so they are not guaranteed during every stay. When one does coincide with your visit, it can easily become the part you tell people about first.

Balinese-inspired rooms and villas

Throughout the resort, traditional Balinese details meet contemporary comfort. The 47-square-metre Beach Room pairs a private balcony with a soaking tub and rain shower, and hand-carved wooden accents add warmth and craft. It’s all in the details: generous bathrooms, balconies with a view and the kind of service that makes a room feel like home.

The 47-square-metre Garden Room offers a similar blend of modern comforts and Balinese touches, with a balcony or terrace. One practical note: it sits across the street from the main beachfront resort, in a separate compound with its own pool and bar. Guests may still use the main resort’s facilities, but those who want to step straight onto the beach should look to the beachfront wing room categories.

For more space and privacy, Ocean Suites add a jacuzzi, and selected villas have private pools. The choices let each guest decide how close to the water, the gardens or their own private corner of the resort they want to be.

A peaceful retreat with Seminyak close by

Ponds and tropical greenery soften the spaces around the resort’s restaurants, giving the whole property the feel of a retreat. At Santan Restaurant, breakfast is served in open-sided pavilions among the ponds, where colourful koi add to the calm. Lunch and dinner draw on Indonesian and regional dishes, in a setting that feels tucked into the gardens even with the beach so near.

For the ocean view, Sanje Restaurant & Lounge sits above Seminyak Beach beside a reflective pool. Mediterranean cooking meets local flavours, from Indonesian nasi goreng ayam to grilled snapper, and the adjoining lounge is made for a sunset cocktail. Kahyangan Spa offers massages, body treatments and facials, with a sauna and hot and cold plunge pools, and the fitness centre has free weights and cardio equipment.

When you are ready to venture out, Seminyak’s restaurants, beach clubs, cocktail bars, markets and designer boutiques are close by, making it easy to balance quiet time with exploring. The resort suits travellers who want a proper beachfront base without being far removed from the neighbourhood’s dining and nightlife.
