Qantas’ Dedicated Wellbeing Zone for Long-Haul Flights Takes Top Honours at Global Awards

Qantas is poised to transform Australian air travel with the introduction of direct flights from the east coast to Europe and New York in 2026. A specialised area for passenger mobility on these eagerly awaited flights has just received significant recognition.
A highly-anticipated space dedicated to passenger wellbeing on ultra-long-haul Qantas flights has secured the prestigious passenger comfort accolade at the Crystal Cabin Awards, which acknowledge the best of the airline industry each year.

Available for passengers in any class, the Wellbeing Zone, crafted in partnership with designer Diehl Aviation, offers a customised area for physical activity. Equipped with integrated handles to facilitate stretching and a digital guided exercise program, it also features a hydration station and a selection of premium, nutritious, self-service snacks.
The zone will debut in 2026 on Airbus A350 jets as part of Qantas’ Project Sunrise initiative.
“With Project Sunrise, Qantas plans to redefine the historic Kangaroo route from London to Sydney by flying passengers non-stop in less than a day,” Crystal Cabin Award explained. “These direct flights from Sydney to London and New York will set new standards for ultra-long flights, with particular emphasis on passenger comfort and health. The innovative Wellbeing Zone offers science-based wellness products, biorhythm-optimised lighting and real glass doors.”

Additional features offered in the Project Sunrise initiative for economy class passengers include increased legroom, a six-way adjustable headrest, two charging ports, wireless audio capability and larger seatback screens.
