Sekumpul Waterfall, Sekumpul

Dream by Luxury Escapes - Chasing Adventure: Bali’s Best Day-Hike Waterfalls

If we had to name Bali’s most beautiful waterfall, it would have to be Sekumpul Waterfall. Showcasing six or seven glorious cascades of varying heights, this waterfall is a photographer’s dream. Young trees, moss and vines cling to the waterfall’s rocks and the delicate layer of mist from the cascades causes multiple rainbows to appear above the clear pool below. A lush emerald forest of large-leafed plants, twining branches and wet, mossy rocks perfectly frame this beautiful oasis.

Located in Sekumpul Village, this scenic spot is the perfect day trip for those staying at Nandini Jungle Resort and Spa. After traversing the moderate track you’ll be well-rewarded for your efforts, as this is one of Bali’s most impressive sights.

Dream by Luxury Escapes - Chasing Adventure: Bali’s Best Day-Hike Waterfalls

Set your sights on the Banyumala Twin Waterfalls and admire two stunning cascades dropping into an easily-accessible pool below. The water from the twin falls is sparkling clean and trickles gently down the steep rock cliffside while creating a fanning effect closer to the bottom. There’s also a shorter, smaller cascade that enters the pool from the side, and acts as a great little natural shower.

Nestled in the Wanagiri Hills, just 10 minutes from Bedugul, the falls are accessed fairly easily via a natural track. For true peace and serenity, it’s recommended to visit in the early mornings – and you may even have the park to yourself.

The sacred Aling-Aling Waterfall isn’t just gorgeous to look at – it’s also the perfect location for those looking to experience some excitement in a natural environment. Explore several smaller offshoot waterfalls and watch as locals dive from cliffs and fly down the natural 35-metre water slide. While Aling-Aling waterfall itself is a spiritual site, meaning you can’t swim there, the park surrounding these picturesque falls offers endless swimming holes and shallow wading areas in an idyllic natural setting.

Aling-Aling and its offshoots (Kembar, Kroya and Pucuk waterfalls) are located in the village of Sambangan and are best viewed with the help of a guide. The best time to visit these is in the mornings to beat the daytime heat.

The picture-perfect Tibumana Waterfall is the place to head to if you love swimming and relaxing. Tibumana Waterfall is located in Apuan Village just outside Ubud, and is within easy reach for those staying at Maya Ubud Resort or Tanadewa Resort and Spa. The 10-minute walk from the carpark to the falls is considered fairly easy, with a concrete walkway, bamboo bridges and some steps.
