Overwater villas are making their way to the Caribbean for the first time ever, thanks to this luxe new resort in the Bahamas.

The Banyan Tree group, renowned for its properties across Asia, Africa and the Middle East, is set to open its first resort in the Caribbean, transforming Bimini in the Bahamas into a new ‘enclave for the elite’.

Set to open in 2025, the 750-acre Banyan Tree Bimini Resort & Residences marks a significant milestone in the brand’s expansion, with 54 custom waterfront residences, a 50-key five-star hotel with overwater bungalows (the first ever in the Caribbean) and an onsite beach club.

Located on Rockwell Island, 48 nautical miles east of Miami (approximately 30 minutes door-to-door) and accessible by seaplane, private charter jet, helicopter or boat, the resort promises to marry Maldives-style luxury with eco-consciousness.

“The Banyan Tree brand embodies intimacy, nature and local traditions, and Banyan Tree Bimini Resort & Residences reflects these values by embracing the local culture and natural environment, inviting guests to immerse themselves in this sanctuary for the senses,” says Eddy See, president and CEO of Banyan Group.

The resort is already looking to expand its exclusive offerings with plans for a deepwater marina for superyachts, a private 18-hole golf course, and a members-only clubhouse.
