AATKings’ Ultimate Red Centre Short Breaks Are Here
Outback touring experts AATKings are ready to rock your time in the Northern Territory with their new three- and four-day Short Breaks.
Visiting the Red Centre has a rock-solid place on most Australians’ bucket lists. It’s widely thought of as the spiritual heart of the country, home to not only the sacred natural landmarks found in Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park but also traces of Indigenous cultures dating back more than 50,000 years… the oldest traces of humankind in the world.
As of early June 2024, AATKings has launched its two newest Red Centre Short Break itineraries, offering midweek journeys that focus on covering the region’s essentials. Combining their most popular Day Trips with comfortable lodging and daily breakfast and the option to add after-dark activities, these Short Breaks are curated so you get just enough and never too much out of your journey.
‘These three- and four-day tours take the thought out of planning your trip,’ explains Jim Henry, one of the new tours’ dedicated driver guides. After working with AATKings for the last six years, he’s an expert in the region. He adds, ‘With the Day Trips, most people come out here and book a few, and they might have a different guide for each tour. With the Short Break, you’ll have the same guide throughout.’
And why is this so good? For a sharper price point, your dedicated guide will make sure there are no repeated stories and no gaps in the information they share. ‘It allows us to build relationships with the group as well, and we can tailor the experience more to their interests,’ ensures Henry.
Excursions include both sunrise and sunset viewings of Uluru, a guided Uluru base walk, a tour through Walpa Gorge in Kata Tjuta, a guided walk along Kings Canyon’s rim and a unique dot painting workshop taught by the Indigenous artists at Maruku Arts. Accommodation at Outback Hotel in Ayers Rock Resort and Kings Canyon Resort has all the modern comforts. And return coach transport from Alice Springs makes these tours convenient to join, whether you’re arriving via the airport, The Ghan or the Stuart Highway.
Optional add-ons include sunrise at the Insta-famous Field of Lights installation and sunset at 2023’s Light Towers, both by British-Australian artist Bruce Munro, as well as a bush barbecue steak dinner with star talk and a sunset dinner showing of the acclaimed new drone show, Wintjiri Wiru.
