The Lotte Arai Resort can be reached by flying to Japan’s Niigata Airport (a two-hour drive) or taking a bullet train to Joetsumyoko Station from Tokyo (around one hour and 45 minutes).
Getting to Japan is easy. Regular flights are available with airlines including Qantas, Japan Airlines, ANA, Jetstar, Cathay Pacific and China Southern departing most Australian capital cities with one or more stopovers.
Flights are available through major gateway airports including Singapore (approx. 7 hours flight time), Hong Kong (approx. six hours direct), Dubai (approx. 11 hours direct) and Bangkok (approx. six hours direct).
Complimentary scheduled return shuttle bus transfers between Joetsumyoko Station and the resort are included in your package.

The Room – A cosy escape from the snow
Stay cosy and comfortable in your contemporary Superior Twin Room complete with soft goose down bedding, with some rooms gazing out over the majestic, snow-dusted Mt. Ohkenashi. All rooms come with fully-equipped modern amenities such as TVs and complimentary Wi-Fi.
Deluxe Upgrade: Want more space? Upgrade to a larger 40sqm Deluxe Twin Room and receive all the same great inclusions. Located in the Lodge building, Deluxe rooms offer European villa charm with elegant wooden furniture and warmly painted walls.

Deluxe Group Upgrade: Upgrade to an elegant European-style Deluxe Family Room in the Lodge building, with four people included in your package. This spacious accommodation - nearly double the size of the Superior Twin - features twin double beds and plenty of room for a family of four.
The Dining – Head from the Japanese Restaurant to the karaoke bar
Everything you need is on hand at the resort, including Japanese, Italian and western dining, a lounge with a cosy fireplace to relax next to at the end of the day, a fun karaoke bar, a take-out café, a bakery serving freshly-baked bread, and the sky-high Okenashiyama Sky Restaurant, nestled spectacularly atop Zendana Station.
Daily breakfast at either the all-day dining restaurant or the Japanese restaurant is included in your package, so you’ll be well set up for busy days of skiing. You’ll also benefit from one buffet dinner for two, choosing to dine at either Japanese restaurant Asahi or western eatery The Plate. Asahi boasts local delicacies such as sushi, sashimi, roast meats and miso soup, while The Plate has all your favourite western treats available, including pasta, burgers, seafood, desserts and more.

The Skiing – Ride the slopes all day long on fresh Japow
Make the most of that highly sought-after Japanese powder with skiing and snowboarding, suitable for everyone from beginners to advanced skiers. On clear days you’ll even see all the way to the ocean. Hone your skills with private lessons or kids’ group tuition at the resort’s ski school, where lessons are held by English-speaking, international instructors - something rare for Japan. Home to Myoko’s longest run, the Arai resort has Japan’s biggest in-bounds off-piste ski area and also offers some above-treeline terrain in wide open powder bowls (also rare for a Japanese resort), along with some controlled off-piste skiing and snowboarding. How advanced are you? The resort has an impressive 951 metres of vertical descent, or, if you don’t mind a hike, make your way up the ridgeline to Mt Ohgenashi and Mt Kogenashi and reach 1,101 metres of Japan’s finest Japow! Fancy trying something a little different? Hit the slopes at night – a unique and atmospheric experience.

One thing’s for certain: you won’t ever find yourself short of things to do at the Lotte Arai Resort. Admire the snowy scenery as you whizz down the 1,501-metre zip line, on a zip-tour along one of Asia’s longest lines (additional charges apply), go tubing down the slopes and try your hand at rock climbing and trampolining at the Lotte Arai Playground, with two hours of complimentary access included in your package.
It’s a great way to finish a day on the slopes and is bound to keep the young - and young at heart! - entertained.
Need to chill out? Enjoy daily access to the resort’s swimming pool and Hoshizora natural hot springs, whose lightly-alkaline waters from 1,750 metres underground contribute to beautiful skin.
