Skiing on one of the world’s best terrains has never been easier or more luxurious. Chatrium Niseko Japan sits just minutes from the glistening white slopes – and if you don’t feel like walking, a convenient complimentary shuttle service will drop you right at the base. Your days in this winter wonderland will be spent skiing the metres-deep powder any time of day, with night skiing available until 9pm. And if you’re not a ski lover, Japan’s famous onsens are the perfect way to while the day away.
Local Tips – Shoulder or Powder Season? See when you should visit
Niseko’s shoulder season is a great time to visit, due to the perfect snow conditions, shorter lift line queues and easier access to all of the top restaurants and bars. Niseko skiing and the free village shuttle begin operating in December, giving you easy access throughout the town. The resort and snow conditions really come to life during this time, however, off-piste skiing is not yet open. April is the locals’ favourite time of the year to hit the slopes: fewer crowds and a huge base of snow make this month one of the finest to ski in Niseko.
If you want to experience the ultimate fresh powder, Powder Season (from January through to March) is for you. This time is typically the snowiest season — meaning you will see metres of fresh, powdery snow falling. Niseko receives on average 14 metres of snow per season, with most of it falling during this time. More powder means bigger crowds, so there can be lift lines, and reservations are recommended at many of the restaurants.
Whichever season you pick to travel to Niseko, you are likely to experience exceptional snow conditions and a fantastic post-ski scene.
