After smashing the 1 million followers mark on Instagram, we chatted to Bali Body co-founder Laura Foley about what it takes to become a powerful brand on social media and her tips for creating the perfect sun-kissed glow.

Hi Laura! First of all, congratulations on reaching the 1 million followers mark on Instagram! How does it feel?

Hi! It feels good, we are all super proud of what we have achieved. Instagram is a major part of our business, we love connecting with the Bali Body community, so it is great to see our following continues to get stronger each day.

What do you think is the key to creating a successful Insta business account?

Being consistent, always planning your posts and staying up to date with the latest trends. Making sure you have a strong relationship with the influencers across the globe is essential. Not to mention… A LOT of hard work. One of the biggest misconceptions is that Instagram is an easy way to build brand awareness, but building an engaging Instagram account takes a lot of dedication.

And you recently celebrated the company’s third birthday, happy birthday. Take us back to the start, how did the company first come to life?

Thank you! Bali Body came to life in Canggu, Bali, where my fiancee and I were living at the time. We wanted to create a natural tanning oil that can be used on sensitive skin. So, we sourced some high-quality natural oils and started playing with formulas. From there, we created our first product (Tanning & Body Oil) and created the brand identity. We started gifting bloggers immediately to build brand awareness, then we moved back to Melbourne and locked in suppliers, and launched Bali Body with an online-only business model via our website.

All our products are 100% Australian made, Bali was purely the source of inspiration for the brand. Our first product was received really well, which was really exciting at the time, and with a lot of hard work and sacrifice over the last three years, we have built a brand that we are extremely proud of. So, happy birthday to us!

What was it about Bali that inspired you to create the Bali Body brand?

I think the tropical, relaxed lifestyle, the warm balmy nights and bright sunny days, we want to work with that vibe every single day, so now we do exactly that, even if the Melbourne weather doesn’t always play along. Bali Body takes us to the sun-shiny place, no matter the season.

Haha, yes one day. But in the meantime, we have so many exciting products coming up, and we want to continue to build brand awareness in international markets, and make our products more easily accessible to Bali Body babes worldwide.
