From luxury shopping and sun-drenched beaches to iconic film landmarks, Los Angeles is brimming with unforgettable experiences.

Los Angeles isn’t just another city: it’s a cultural icon – a sprawling, sun-soaked gateway to the USA that deserves more than a passing glance. While many see it as a quick stop en route to somewhere else, LA rewards those who linger with a blend of Hollywood glamour, laidback coastal charm and boundless creative energy.

Day 1: Classic Hollywood and iconic LA

12pm: Lunch at Bottega Louie

Kick off your LA adventure with a chic lunch at Bottega Louie, an upscale Italian eatery in Downtown LA. Known for its Parisian-style patisserie, impeccably plated dishes and lively ambience, this spot is a favourite for both locals and visitors. Tuck into a plate of its signature truffle fries or savour a classic margherita pizza while you soak in the stylish setting.

3pm: Hollywood Walk of Fame and TCL Chinese Theatre

No first trip to LA is complete without a stroll along Hollywood Boulevard, home to the legendary Hollywood Walk of Fame. Snap a photo with your favourite icon’s star, then step into cinematic history at the TCL Chinese Theatre, where the handprints and footprints of film legends are immortalised in concrete.

6pm: The Grove and dinner at the Original Farmers Market

Head next to The Grove in West Hollywood, an open-air shopping and entertainment destination that feels like a slice of Old Hollywood with its vintage-style tram, fairy-lit pathways and architecture inspired by 1930s movie sets. A popular celebrity hangout and frequent site of film premieres, The Grove offers plenty of opportunities for people-watching; keep your eyes peeled for a familiar face browsing the high-end boutiques or grabbing a coffee.

Right next door, you’ll find the Original Farmers Market, one of LA’s oldest culinary landmarks, established in 1934. What started as a collection of humble produce stalls has grown into a vibrant foodie haven, where you can sample everything from Korean BBQ to freshly shucked oysters, authentic Mexican tacos and artisanal pastries. Grab a bite from one of the many stalls, find a seat at a communal table and experience a classic LA dining scene that draws locals and visitors alike.

10pm: Nightcap at Chateau Marmont

Wrap up your first day with a drink at the legendary Chateau Marmont. This historic Hollywood hideaway exudes old-school glamour, making it the perfect place to sip a handcrafted cocktail while imagining the stories the walls could tell.

Day 2: Coastal cool on the West Side

6am: Sunrise hike at Runyon Canyon or Griffith Park

Start your second day bright and early with a hike in Runyon Canyon or Griffith Park. Both offer spectacular views of the city as the sun rises, with Griffith Park providing an iconic perspective of the Hollywood Sign (as well as the chance to visit Griffith Observatory). Don’t forget your camera – and comfortable shoes!

9am: Breakfast at The Waffle

After your invigorating hike, reward yourself with a hearty breakfast at The Waffle. This Sunset Boulevard local is famous for its creative waffle dishes – think sweet red velvet or savoury cheddar-jalapeno versions.

11am: Santa Monica Pier and beach stroll

Drive to the coast to find yourself at the Santa Monica Pier, endpoint of the iconic Route 66 highway. Take a ride on the ferris wheel, grab a cone of soft serve ice cream or stroll along the sandy shores with the Pacific Ocean as your backdrop.

 1pm: Abbot Kinney Boulevard

Reach Venice Beach and stop off at Erewhon for a smoothie that’s fit for a celebrity (you may even spot one while you’re there). Then, shop until you drop along Abbot Kinney Boulevard, often dubbed the ‘local’s Rodeo Drive’ for its trendy boutiques and laidback atmosphere.

3pm: Venice Canals walking tour

Escape the hustle and bustle with a peaceful walk through the Venice Canal Historic District. Lined with quaint bridges and picturesque homes, this hidden gem feels worlds away from the energy of LA’s busy streets.

5pm: Sunset cocktails at High Rooftop Lounge

End your day with sundowners at the High Rooftop Lounge. Perched above the Venice Boardwalk, this sleek bar offers panoramic ocean views, perfect for watching the sun dip below the horizon. Pair with a refreshing cocktail to make the moment unforgettable.

7:30pm: Dinner at The Bazaar by José Andrés

End your second day with a feast at The Bazaar by José Andrés, where innovative flavours combine with a theatrical dining experience. Start with a liquid nitrogen caipirinha, mixed tableside as clouds of icy vapour swirl, creating a frozen, sorbet-like cocktail. The modernist tapas are equally imaginative – try the Philly Cheesesteak, an airy, crisp bread filled with creamy cheddar and wagyu beef, or the Olives Modern, delicate spheres that burst with olive flavour. Nestled within the chic SLS Hotel, the restaurant’s opulent design of gilded mirrors, bold art, and dramatic lighting perfectly reflects the glamour and creativity that make Beverly Hills an icon of luxury.

Day 3: Beverly Hills elegance

10am: Brunch at The Polo Lounge

Start your final day with an iconic LA brunch at The Polo Lounge, nestled within the historic Beverly Hills Hotel. This celebrity-favoured institution’s lush garden patio offers the perfect setting for a leisurely meal. Keep an eye out for A-listers while savouring signature crab cakes or classic eggs benedict.

12pm: Stroll down Rodeo Drive

A short walk from the hotel will take you to Rodeo Drive, the epitome of luxury shopping in Beverly Hills’ Golden Triangle. Browse the boutiques of Gucci, Prada and Chanel, or simply admire their opulent window displays. Even if you’re only there to observe, the street itself is a cultural experience – a glamorous tribute to LA’s extravagance.

3pm: Late lunch at In-N-Out Burger

After a morning of high-end elegance, switch gears and enjoy an all-American taste of LA at In-N-Out Burger, conveniently located en route to LAX. This West Coast institution offers a simple yet delicious menu. Go off-menu for ‘animal style’ fries, or order the Double-Double cheeseburger with a milkshake for ultimate indulgence.

…and beyond

If you find yourself with a few days to spare, why not extend your adventure on a cruise up to Mexico? Set sail from Los Angeles aboard Norwegian Joy, and explore the stunning landscapes of Cabos San Lucas and Puerto Vallarta before returning to LA.
