Mamma Mia! Greece’s Hottest New Hotel Set for its Debut Summer Season
Greece welcomes a new era of sustainable luxury with the much-awaited launch of Gundari Resort, opening in May 2024 on Folegandros island.
Folegandros, an untapped island between Paros and Santorini, will welcome the brand new Gundari Resort to its southern coast in May 2024. Spanning 80 acres on the rugged cliffside, the resort is set to redefine the concept of slow travel, providing architectural luxury in an eco-conscious setting.
Unlike the more tourist-saturated Greek islands, Folegandros retains its status as a hidden gem, offering raw, untouched beauty and an authentic experience. The EarthCheck Certified resort is committed to preserving the island’s natural environment, with sustainability at the forefront across everything from its structural design to its daily operations.
Guests will discover 27 bioclimatic suites and villas, including a subterranean spa perched on a cliff overlooking the sea, where Ancient Greek rituals and native herbs are utilised during treatments, sound baths and meditation workshops. Dining from Greece’s first Michelin-starred chef, Lefteris Lazarou, promises only the freshest ingredients from land and sea for a new take on traditional Greek Cuisine.
The resort offers a curated selection of experiences designed to unveil the beauty of Folegandros, from exploring hidden bays and pristine beaches aboard the resort’s luxury boat, to embarking on guided hikes along historic trails. Electronic bicycles and an electric Mini Moke open-air vehicle are available for exploring.
Folegandros is well connected to the mainland and other islands, with regular daily ferries from Athens (in as little as 3 hours and 45 minutes), Santorini (50 minutes by fast ferry), Milos (60 minutes by fast ferry), and other major destinations in the Cyclades.
