Only a 30-minute ferry ride from Hobart, feel worlds away with a day tour to Maria Island and explore a rich convict history, native wildlife, dramatic coastal cliffs and untouched beaches. Moments of relaxation and discovery are aplenty – and you’ll manage to take it all in one active day! Set out on foot and learn of those who once called the island home: from explorers, whalers, sealers, convicts, fishermen, farmers and industrialists. Climb high along the Painted Cliffs or Fossil Cliff for awe-inspiring views of cascading cliffs that drop into the ocean. Spend the rest of your time getting to know the menagerie of wildlife including wombats and Tasmanian Devils, or embrace island life by taking a dip in the clear waters!
