The World’s Best Michelin-Starred Hotel Restaurants

There’s hotel dining, and then there’s Michelin-starred hotel dining: these are the restaurant experiences worth travelling the globe for.

Serious gourmands will traverse any distance in pursuit of the world’s finest dining experiences – and these luxury hotels are foodie destinations in themselves. Here, guests can indulge in exquisite, Michelin-starred cuisine by world-acclaimed chefs, without having to leave the comfort of their hotel.

From the celebrity glamour of Cipriani on Rio’s glittering Copacabana Beach to Restaurant Andrew Fairlie at Gleneagles in the windswept Scottish Highlands – these are the most exceptional Michelin-starred hotel dining experiences in the world.

Le Gabriel: La Réserve, Paris

Perfectly positioned within the ultra-luxurious La Réserve – itself just moments from the iconic Champs-Élysées – this ultra-refined, three-Michelin-star restaurant dazzles with a menu just as spectacular as its surroundings. Two elaborate, travel-themed tasting menus chart a course through northwestern Brittany and the wider world, with influences drawn from Japan, Turkiye and beyond.

Under Grain: Rosselli AX Privilege, Malta

Nestled in Malta’s UNESCO World Heritage-listed capital Valletta is the luxurious Rosselli AX Privilege, where some of the finest dining on the island can be experienced. Under Grain is the jewel in the hotel’s glittering crown and a nod to the area’s fascinating heritage. The name ‘grain’ takes inspiration from the old tailor’s workshops on nearby Merchants Street: to ensure fabric doesn’t fray, a dressmaker must cut it along the grain – the same way a chef must ‘go with the grain’ of their ingredients to ensure the optimum result.

Charming nods to the theme include menus designed like sewing patterns and bills presented on pin cushions. And the food? Expect classic French cuisine such as tartare of black angus beef with smoked chantilly and slow-cooked milk-fed veal in smoked honey.

We originally booked a different hotel in the same chain a few doors down, but were upgraded to this property instead, and we’re so glad we were. From the moment we arrived, the service was absolutely fantastic. Every member of staff we encountered was polite, friendly, and genuinely welcoming throughout our stay. The room itself was small but very functional, comfortable, and had everything we needed. The bathroom was excellent and one of the highlights of the room. We had a small balcony overlooking Merchant Street. The building is lovely, an old courtyard has been converted to an inside space but keeping the original features so there is so much character. The rooftop bar was lovely, with great staff once again and very reasonable prices. Breakfast each morning was fantastic with plenty of choice and a great start to the day. We didn't use the pool, but were surprised to see one in a city boutique hotel! The location is excellent, right in the heart of Valletta with easy access to everything we needed during our stay. Overall, a wonderful experience and somewhere we would happily stay again.

From the moment we arrived, the service was absolutely fantastic. Every member of staff was polite, friendly, and genuinely welcoming throughout our stay. The building is lovely, and has been sympathetically renovated keeping the original features and character. The location is excellent in the heart of Valletta with easy access to everything. The rooftop bar was lovely, with great staff and service. Breakfast each morning was fabulous with plenty of choice and again attentive and friendly staff. Overall, a wonderful experience and somewhere we would definitely stay again.

A beautiful building in fantastic location. Staff were all excellent and helpful. Rooftop bar was lovely with great cocktails and staff (special mention to the lovely Samuel). The pool is, by necessity, small (plunge pool) but particularly welcome after a hot day out. Only criticism is that the rooms were not particularly well designed (a minor irritation) and more 4* in feel but other than that I would highly recommend.

I recently visited Chicky Monkey with a group of friends on the invitation of Mr Hark, who is a very business-minded and inspiring person. It was a great evening and a wonderful experience. We were a group, and everything from the service to the food was excellent. The drinks and snacks were well prepared and served on time, and the quality was really impressive. The atmosphere of the place is lively and enjoyable, making it a perfect spot to relax and spend time with friends. The staff were friendly, professional, and attentive, which made our visit even more enjoyable. Overall, we had a fantastic time and truly enjoyed the evening. Highly recommended if you are looking for a great place to enjoy drinks, snacks, and a good atmosphere with friends.

Enoteca Pinchiorri: Baglioni Relais Santa Croce, Florence

Nestled in Florence’s historic heart is the 18th-century Baglioni Relais Santa Croce – the only property in the city with Relais & Châteaux accreditation and site of the largest suite accommodation in Florence. It also happens to be home to one of Italy’s finest and most celebrated restaurants, Enoteca Pinchiorri.

Dining here is a true experience, with Italy’s world-famous cuisine elevated to an exquisite level. Respect for tradition is perfectly balanced with an exciting desire for innovation, resulting in dishes such as risotto with carrots and star anise, lamb from the Lucanian Dolomites and panna cotta with almond, lemon mousse and rosewater. Living la dolce vita indeed.

We stayed in the only Junior Suite with a terrace at the prestigious five-star Palazzo Firenze by Baglioni Hotels & Resorts, whose luxury rooms and suites are housed within a splendid 18th-century noble residence. From our wonderful terrace, we enjoyed a truly enviable view, with a splendid view of the nearby Basilica of Santa Croce. The spacious and remarkably quiet room had a large bathroom finished in elegant Tuscan marble, a comfortable sofa, and every comfort needed for a relaxing stay. From the hotel, you can easily walk to Piazza del Duomo, Santa Croce, Santa Maria Novella, and all the city's main artistic attractions. The building, a splendid historic palazzo, is striking for its elegant, impeccably clean spaces, meticulously maintained down to the smallest detail, and brimming with charm. A delicate fragrance wafting through the common areas contributes to a particularly pleasant and refined atmosphere. The reception, dining room, and housekeeping staff have always been extremely courteous, attentive to guests' every need, and highly professional. One evening we dined at the on-site Guelfi e Ghibellini restaurant. The gourmet dishes, inspired by the great classics of Tuscan cuisine, were excellent and served with great skill and attention by the staff. Breakfast also fully lived up to expectations, thanks to a rich buffet featuring typical local sweets, savory options, fresh fruit, yogurt, and many other specialties. The apple cake deserves special mention, as it was the perfect end to this delightful moment of pampering every morning. Overall, an extremely positive experience in every way: a hotel that undoubtedly deserves all its five stars.

Ideally located for exploring Florence and the surrounding area. Close to trams, buses, and the train station, yet conveniently situated in the city center. The common areas, while decorated in a modern style, remain very austere. The rooms are quite large but dreary and seem to have been decorated hastily: poorly placed pictures, TV in the wrong spot in the room. The bathroom is absolutely not up to 4-star standards: no mixer tap, poor lighting, worn-out furniture, a wheezy hairdryer, and no tissues or shoehorn. The staff is pleasant but seems completely disillusioned by the hordes of extremely noisy tourists at breakfast. If you're looking for peace and quiet, this isn't the hotel for you. The breakfast room is worth a visit, with a magnificent view of the Duomo. There's also a lovely terrace with plenty of greenery, but it's sorely lacking in maintenance: stained sofas, broken armchairs, and dirty floors. The breakfast is varied and plentiful. We won't be returning.

We booked this hotel well in advance, only to be informed that our reservation could not be honored because the renovation had been delayed and the hotel would remain closed. This was extremely disappointing and disrupted our travel plans. Although an alternative hotel was offered, we had booked this specific property for a reason. What made the experience even worse was that it took almost a month to receive our refund after the cancellation. Overall, this was a very frustrating experience and not what I would expect from a luxury hotel brand.

Le Louis XV-Alain Ducasse: Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo, Monaco

The world-famous Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo is home to not one, but two Michelin-starred restaurants (the second being the Le Grill) – but it’s the hotel’s signature restaurant that really knocks the silk socks off its well-heeled visitors.

Created by legendary French chef Alain Ducasse and his protégé Dominique Lory, the Riviera-inspired menu at Le Louis XV-Alain Ducasse is described as ‘haute couture’ and showcases regional produce including local fish, herbs and vegetables from the hinterland. Combined with palace-like surroundings dripping with gilt and glittering chandeliers, this is truly a once-in-a-lifetime dining experience.

La Yeon: The Shilla Seoul, South Korea

La Yeon is one of Korea’s most illustrious restaurants, currently holding two Michelin stars, which should surely pique the interest of those in search of the epitome of fine East Asian cuisine. With sweeping views over Namsan Park, the restaurant calls the 23rd floor of The Shilla Seoul home – a top-notch luxury hotel with an A-list clientele made up of heads of state, celebrities and business power players.

The restaurant uses time-honoured techniques to create contemporary dishes that exquisitely showcase the healthy ingredients and balanced flavours South Korean cuisine is renowned for. From chargrilled beef ribeye to cuttlefish salad with yuzu-flavoured jelly, this is an education in quintessential South Korean cuisine.

Restaurant Andrew Fairlie: The Gleneagles Hotel, Scotland

For nearly a century, this sprawling 850-acre country estate, nestled amid Scotland’s Ochil Hills, an hour from Glasgow and Edinburgh, has welcomed well-to-do locals and Londoners in search of rugged Scottish beauty – and the utmost luxury.

After working up an appetite on one of the estate’s three championship golf courses, residents can sit to dinner at Restaurant Andrew Fairlie. Dishes are crafted using the very best ingredients Scotland has to offer, together with vegetables, herbs and edible flowers from the estate’s Victorian walled kitchen garden. The signature dish? Scottish lobster, house-smoked for five hours over whisky barrel chips.

Le Comptoir de Pierre Gagnaire: Capella Shanghai, China

Despite its location amid the urban metropolis of Shanghai, this luxury hotel offers exclusively villa-only accommodation. Perhaps it’s natural, then, that this homely atmosphere should extend to its signature restaurant, created by French chef Pierre Gagnaire (of Sketch in London).

Inspired by a Parisian salon, with a nod to the old-world glamour of 1930s Shanghai, Le Comptoir de Pierre Gagnaire beckons diners into a softly lit cocoon, where dishes of the finest local ingredients are crafted using traditional French cooking techniques. Start with caviar and ascend to traditional dishes such as cocotte of frogs and grilled rib-eye.

Cheval Blanc by Peter Knogl: Grand Hotel Les Trois Rois, Switzerland

From chocolate to watchmaking, Switzerland is world-renowned as a purveyor of the finer things in life. When it comes to cuisine, the Cheval Blanc is its elite, ranking as one of the 100 best restaurants in the world thanks to its endless list of prestigious accolades. It finds its home within the 300-year-old Les Trois Rois, a grand hotel in the heart of medieval Basel on the banks of the Rhine.

The hotel has been frequented by countless members of royalty, rock stars and poets throughout its illustrious history. Bringing a Mediterranean and Asian twist to French cuisine is founding chef Peter Knogl, whose team serves dishes inspired by the best nature has to offer: fillet of red mullet with crispy scales, saffron and fermented garlic and Nebraska entrecôte with bell pepper and eggplant.

Cipriani: Copacabana Palace, Brazil

The glittering white Copacabana Palace, which towers over the sands of Rio de Janeiro’s famous beach, has to be one of the most legendary hotels in the world, with the likes of Princess Diana, Brigitte Bardot and The Rolling Stones having walked its marble halls. With such a prestigious clientele, it’s only fitting the dining is top-notch.

Celebrity haunt Cipriani, headed by Nello Cassese, also enjoys global renown. Part of the Italian Cipriani dynasty, which started with Harry’s Bar in Venice in 1931, the restaurant marries authentic Italian produce with local ingredients, resulting in dishes such as salted cod with zucchini scapece and parsley and wagyu carpaccio with red onion and pine nuts.

Waku Ghin: Marina Bay Sands, Singapore

An icon of the Singapore skyline, Marina Bay Sands needs no introduction: one glance at its three-tower structure and sky-high infinity pool transports you to balmy evenings amid the glittering city lights. Exquisite dining options within the complex are endless, but it’s Waku Ghin, led by one of Australia’s finest chefs, Tetsuya Wakuda, that is the star in its gastronomic crown.

Marrying Japanese culinary excellence with the finest seasonal ingredients sourced from around the world, the restaurant serves a smorgasbord of flavours, ranging from seafood (oysters, caviar and carpaccio) to gyoza and fried chicken.

We had an amazing girls' staycation at Marina Bay Sands! What made our experience even more special was the unexpected complimentary room upgrade. Such a wonderful surprise! The suite was absolutely stunning — spacious, luxurious, beautifully furnished and equipped with excellent amenities. The breathtaking views of Singapore's skyline were simply spectacular. We especially enjoyed the iconic infinity pool, both in the evening and during the day. It was definitely one of the highlights of our stay. We had such a memorable time relaxing, laughing and enjoying each other's company. The beautiful suite made our girls' getaway even more special. Thank you, Marina Bay Sands, for the lovely gesture and wonderful experience. Truly a memorable stay, and we would definitely love to return!

My stay at The Landmark Mandarin Oriental was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment I arrived, the hospitality was top-tier—the staff were exceptionally courteous, attentive, and warm, making me feel truly welcomed throughout my visit. A huge thank you to the team for the generous room upgrade! It was a delightful surprise that made the experience even more special and memorable. The location in Central couldn't be better—perfectly situated for dining, shopping, and getting around the city with ease. The level of service and attention to detail here sets the benchmark for luxury. I cannot wait to return!

The hotel is in an excellent location, making it incredibly convenient for shopping, and its F&B offerings are truly outstanding. Beyond the three-Michelin-starred Amber, I thoroughly enjoyed the beautifully curated mini-course breakfast, the specialty coffee shop on the ground floor, and the food served at the Blanc de Noirs Champagne Bar on the seventh floor. I also really appreciated the thoughtful details, such as being able to choose from different pillow options and having the convenience of making inquiries or requests via WhatsApp. These touches made the entire stay feel effortless and genuinely personal. From Emilie’s warm welcome when I first arrived to Arnold seeing me off at the very end, every interaction was exceptional. This experience has given me a wonderful reason to return—not only to Hong Kong, but to Mandarin Oriental hotels around the world.

Amazing service and every staff member goes out of their way to help you like Gijs and Randy did. It's a Mandarin Oriental but feels like a small boutique hotel because of its size. Great amenities in the room. Perfect location in Central and right next to the MTR station. Just don't expect a view from your room.

We celebrated our 10th anniversary at Amber, and it was unforgettable. Dereck, Katrina, and Tracy provided warm, attentive service, anticipating our needs without being intrusive. Dereck’s engaging explanations of the dishes and the sustainability story behind our wooden table setting added real meaning to the evening. The food was refined, beautifully paced, and full of thoughtful touches, while the calm, elegant ambiance was perfect for our celebration. If you’re looking for a special-occasion restaurant where the team truly cares, Amber delivers. We left genuinely grateful for the experience.
