What you'll see

Welcome to Prague, where your once-in-a-lifetime Luxury Escapes charter journey begins. On arrival at Václav Havel Airport Prague (PRG), you’ll be welcomed by a representative and transferred to your hotel – the magnificent 19th-century NH Collection Prague Carlo. Occupying a Neo-Renaissance palace, this grand hotel has stood since the 1890s, with many of its original features carefully preserved to maintain its history as a former bank. Just minutes from Prague’s historic heart, this refined hideaway houses a gleaming spa beneath vaulted ceilings and one of the city’s most atmospheric bars, tucked inside a centuries-old vault of dark wood and wrought iron.

Often described as a fairytale capital, Prague is renowned for its well-preserved medieval architecture, cobbled lanes and spired skyline – a living gallery of Romanesque rotundas, Gothic churches, Baroque palaces and Art Nouveau facades.

After check-in, gather with your tour group in the lobby for a welcome meeting before turning in for a restful night’s sleep.

After breakfast at the hotel, set off on a guided walking tour of Prague’s historic centre, travelling in groups of just 25 people. Begin at Charles Bridge, a 14th-century stone masterpiece known for its Gothic towers and 30 Baroque statues lining its sides. Stop off at the Charles Bridge Museum before crossing into the Lesser Town, a district of quiet cobblestone streets, noble palaces and the domes of Saint Nicholas Church.

Continue through the Jewish Quarter, where preserved synagogues and the Old Jewish Cemetery reflect the complex history of Prague’s Jewish community. Arrive in the Old Town Square, home to the famous Astronomical Clock. The tour culminates at Prague Castle, a vast hilltop complex that includes Saint Vitus Cathedral, the seat of Czech kings and presidents for over a thousand years.

Enjoy a traditional Czech lunch, and an hour of cruising along the Vltava River for a different perspective of the city’s landmarks.

The afternoon is free to explore at your own pace, perhaps revisiting a favourite district or enjoying a cafe along the river. In the evening, gather for a welcome gala dinner to mark the beginning of your journey. Tonight’s extravaganza unfolds within the walls of Prague Castle – the world’s largest ancient castle complex and seat of Czech power for over a millennium – where Bohemian kings once ruled, emperors held court and the president of the Czech Republic still resides. This evening will be a night to remember in a setting steeped in grandeur and history, complete with free-flowing drinks for all and views over the illuminated city.

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

After you’ve greeted the morning with breakfast at your hotel, choose your own adventure with two exceptional experiences available beyond the capital.

Those drawn to history and healing may opt for a full-day excursion to Karlovy Vary, the country’s most celebrated spa town. Famed for its hot springs and once-frequented by Goethe, Beethoven and Hollywood stars, the town is a vision of 19th-century grandeur, set in a forested valley. Wander beneath the arcades of the Mill Colonnade before stepping inside the legendary Grandhotel Pupp, whose opulent interiors starred in the James Bond film Casino Royale. A light lunch completes your elegant retreat before the scenic return to Prague.

Alternatively, uncover the charm of Cesky Krumlov, a UNESCO World Heritage town straight from the pages of a fairytale. Travel through rolling countryside before arriving at the hilltop Cesky Krumlov Castle. After admiring the sweeping views from the ramparts, descend to the river for lunch in a centuries-old tavern or one of the cosy Old Town eateries. Then, this afternoon is yours to roam the crooked lanes and artisan boutiques at leisure.

For the more independent travellers, choose to discover the city on your own time. Enjoy an evening of relaxation tonight or enjoy the city’s restaurants and nightlife at your own pace.
