  • Passengers are permitted one piece of baggage with a maximum weight of 15kg on tour.
  • Passengers are permitted one additional, smaller piece of hand-luggage with a maximum weight of 7kg on tour.
  • Most travellers carry a backpack or rolling bag of small to medium size, as they need to fit under the beds when travelling on sleeper trains. You will also need a day pack/bag to carry water, cameras and other electronics.

Transfers

  • Arrival transfers are available on the first day of your tour only. Departure transfers are NOT included in your tour, please plan accordingly.
  • If you have booked your pre- and post-tour accommodation through Luxury Escapes, transfers may be available for select tours (not available for Trusted Partner operated tours).
  • Please note ‘Private Transfers’ refers to transfers that are exclusive for your tour group and may be shared among other members of your group if arriving on the same flight or another flight arriving within a 30-minute window.
  • Flight information must be provided to Luxury Escapes 60 days prior to departure in order to book transfers. Please see Destination information for airport pick-up and drop-off information.

Tipping

  • Please note that it is customary to tip 10% to service staff in India. If someone helps you carry a bag, you can offer to tip a few USD (in local currency), although it will not be expected. If you have a local guide or a driver on your trip, then you will be advised to tip US$2–5 (in local currency) per person per service, as long as you feel it is deserved. Please ask your CEO for specific advice if you are unsure.
  • Also at the end of each trip if you felt your G Adventures CEO did an outstanding job, tipping is highly appreciated. The amount is entirely a personal preference, however as a guideline US$20–30 per person, per week can be used.
  • For meals and activities not included in your itinerary, it is appropriate in India to tip 10%. Though not compulsory, tipping is expected. Although it may not be customary to you, it is of considerable significance to the people who will take care of you during your travels and shows an expression of satisfaction.

Please Note:

  • Allow USD180–235 for meals not included.
  • An arrival transfer is included when you arrive on Day 1, or if you arrive up to three days prior provided that you have booked your pre-accommodation through G Adventures at the chosen joining hotel. Due to customer experience and quality considerations, all services related to the tour must be continuous.
  • Your included arrival transfer will be provided by G Adventures-supported project Women with Wheels. This program provides safe and reliable transport for travellers, while providing a dignified livelihood for a local woman from a resource poor community. You will be greeted by a trained driver from the project with a G Adventures sign with your name on it. The drivers mostly wait outside between exit Gate number 4 and 5.
  • Your arrival transfer has been arranged based on flight information provided to G Adventures. Included arrival transfers are provided from the nearest airport to your starting location. If you are advised of a flight schedule change or flight cancellation within 48 hours of your scheduled arrival time, please call the emergency contact number to advise of your new arrival flight information. If you do not, G Adventures not be able to rearrange your arrival transfer and you will need to make your own way to the starting hotel at your own expense. If your arrival transfer does not arrive within 30 minutes after you have exited the arrivals area please take a taxi to your start point hotel.
  • If you have any questions, please feel free to call G Adventures’ transfer representatives in Delhi. G Adventures’ airport representatives can be reached at the Sakha Call Centre at +91 92787-08888.
  • Please ensure that you print a final copy of your Trip Details to review a couple of days prior to travel, in case there have been changes that affect your plans.
  • Travel times listed are approximations only and subject to vary due to local circumstances.
  • For details of your joining hotel please refer to your tour voucher, G Account, the G Adventures App or contact your travel agent. Accommodations vary per departure and are subject to change.
  • Upon arrival at your joining hotel (note that check-in time will be in the afternoon), look for a note or bulletin board in the reception with a note from your CEO. This note will give the details of your Welcome Meeting on Day 1 (usually between 5pm and 7pm), where you will get a chance to meet your CEO and other travellers, as well as learn more about how the tour will run. If you don’t see a note, please ask reception for details.
  • Day 1 is an arrival day and no activities have been planned on this day.
  • Specific dress: It is recommend to prepare modest clothing that covers knees and shoulders (long pants, long skirts, shirts that cover shoulders), as well as a shawl or scarf (for temple visits).
  • Cultural expectations: India is a country which is very different to anything you will have experienced before. Although this means it is not the easiest place to travel, this is also what makes it so special. Pollution, poverty and the crowds can result in initial culture shock but should be seen as an exciting new challenge.
    • In India there are very different attitudes to time keeping, public cleanliness, privacy and service. Trains will sometimes be late, plumbing can sometimes be temperamental and power will often just vanish. Optimistic menus turn out to have only one dish available. If you are able to travel with patience and a healthy sense of humour, then you will surely be captivated by what India has to offer.
  • Emergency Fund: Please also make sure you have access to at least an additional US$200 (or equivalent) as an ‘emergency’ fund, to be used when circumstances outside of the tour operator’s control (such as natural disaster) require a change to the planned route.

Travel Insurance

  • Travel insurance is required on all our tours, which (at a minimum) covers medical expenses and repatriation. You may not be permitted to join the tour group if evidence of travel insurance is not provided prior to your trip. If you are unable to obtain travel insurance for whatever reason, you may be required to sign a waiver and/or provide a letter from a medical practitioner which confirms you are fit for travel.
