The concierge, Dennis, at the hotel was a highlight at our stay 2 weeks ago. He really went above and beyond to make sure we had good info about Kyoto. Our rooms’ bathrooms could need an update, but the hotel is only 10 minutes from the nearest train station. I believe Dennis’ Japanese is very good given he is originally from Eastern Europe. Definitely talk to Dennis when arriving at the hotel.

One of our favorite hotels from our Japan stay. The castle view is beautiful at night and it's a short walk to the train. Customer service leaves something to be desired though. The other hotels we stayed in you could leave your bags whenever that day for them to be delivered to your next hotel the next day. This one though you could only leave them from like 10 am to 5 pm so we ended up dragging our bags to Osaka instead. They do however have a free shuttle service to the train station so that was helpful.

A very comfortable stay with lots of hospitable amenities (slippers, robes, tea/coffee and fridge in room). Hotel could do with some updating, but beds are comfortable and the dining area looks out onto waterfall garden. The bell captain, Ryota, went above and beyond assisting me in the business centre when I had a last minute printing situation that needed tending to. Even though this was not in his remit, he helped me until we got everything in order.
