Welcome to Seoul, the business and cultural hub of South Korea. After disembarking from your flight at Incheon International Airport (ICN), make your way to your hotel. After check-in, enjoy time at leisure in this sophisticated city, which balances ancient traditions and cutting-edge technology with serene Buddhist temples and extraordinary modern architecture.
Arrival & Transfers:
Please book your flights to arrive at Seoul’s Incheon International Airport by 3pm on Day 1. Airport are included on the first day of your tour. Your transfer will meet you on arrival and take you to your hotel for check-in.
Start your day with a delicious breakfast before travelling approximately four hours by bus to historic Gyeongju. When ancient Korea was divided into three separate kingdoms, Silla, Baekje and Goguryeo, Gyeongju was the capital of the Silla kingdom, and as such, is rich in archaeological sites and temples, royal tombs and monuments.
Start at Bulguksa temple, a UNESCO World Heritage-listed site renowned for its extraordinary architecture, considered a masterpiece of the golden age of Silla-era Buddhist art, before moving to the nearby Seokguram Grotto, a magnificent temple originally carved into stone in the 8th century.
Finally, explore the Cheomseongdae Astronomical Observatory, the oldest of its kind in Asia, and the Gyeongju National Museum, located directly adjacent to the city’s royal tomb complex and flanked by holy woods. Finish the evening with a welcome dinner at a local restaurant, the perfect introduction to South Korea’s fiery cuisine.
After breakfast, depart Gyeongju for the coastal city of Busan (approximately two hours away). One of South Korea’s most popular tourist destinations, Busan offers something for everyone, with beaches, temples and a world-class dining scene all on offer. On arrival, begin your exploration of the city with a visit to the Gamcheon Culture Village, a colourful slice of the city that’s famous for its vivid street art, charming atmosphere and profound history.
Continue to Haedong Yonggungsa, one of South Korea’s very few seaside temples and renowned for being one of the most spectacular. Take some time to relax at Haeundae Beach, Busan’s most beloved stretch of golden coastline.
In the evening, visit Jagalchi Market, the perfect place to sample the city’s legendary seafood, including grilled fish cakes, Korean-style sashimi and soy sauce-marinated crab.
After breakfast, depart Busan and travel approximately four hours to Jeonju, a city famous for its preserved traditional ‘hanok’ architecture, links to the Joseon dynasty – Korea’s last dynastic kingdom – and for its rich culinary tradition.
Begin your exploration of this ancient city in the Jeonju Hanok Village, which offers one of the country’s best collections of historic Korean housing. Be sure to try the village’s street food – treats like strawberry and red bean rice cakes, grilled cheese skewers and shrimp dumplings are all well worth your time. After your explorations, ascend a nearby hill to visit the twin pavilions of Omokdae and Imokdae, and soak up the breathtaking views that surround you from every angle.
Finally, finish the day with a trip to the Jeonju Nambu Traditional Market, originally built in 1905 and selling everything from delicious treats to dried fish, clothing, sneakers, artwork and more.
Bid farewell to Jeonju and travel approximately four hours to Seoul for an in-depth discovery of the capital’s best. Begin at Gyeongbokgung Palace, originally built in 1395 as the main royal palace of the Joseon Dynasty, and still the country’s most magnificent.
Next, step back in time as you reach Bukchon Hanok Village, a charming neighbourhood steeped in traditional Korean atmosphere, before continuing to N Seoul Tower, also known as Namsan Tower, an iconic landmark offering sweeping views over Seoul.
Finish the day with a visit to Myeongdong, the city’s most popular shopping district, notable for its extraordinary collection of Korean skincare and cosmetics outlets.
It’s time for your hassle-free journey from South Korea to Japan! After breakfast, you will be transferred to Incheon International Airport (ICN) for your short included flight to Osaka’s Kansai International Airprot (KIX). On arrival, you will be transferred to your airport hotel, where you can enjoy time at leisure and get a good night’s rest before tomorrow’s adventures.
Known for its ancient feudal castles surrounded by cherry blossoms and gorgeous temples, Osaka has an incredible amount to offer the intrepid traveller. Today, you will discover one of Japan’s most famous landmarks, Osaka Castle. Strategically located among modern buildings and city life, this five-story castle was built in 1583 and is a wonderfully preserved example of Japanese architecture.
Afterwards, head to the riverside and Osaka’s Dotonbori district, famed for its extraordinary street food. Lit in blazing neon, this district alone lets Osaka claim the title of ‘Japan’s Kitchen.’ It’s the perfect place to try the region’s favourite bites, including takoyaki (small balls of grilled batter stuffed with diced octopus) and Kansai-style okonomiyaki (cabbage pancakes, covered in noodles and thick, savoury sauce).
Your journey then takes you to Nara, the country’s old imperial capital. Explore the massive national park that surrounds the city, meet the local sacred deer (infamous for munching on anything, including passports!) and marvel at the city’s most impressive temple, Todaiji, home to one of the world’s most impressive bronze statues of the Buddha.
Conclude the day by journeying by bullet train to Kyoto, the country’s magnificent cultural capital, a time capsule of laneways filled with tea houses, izakayas and geisha – if you can spot them vanishing down the back alleys.
Today, visit Fushimi Inari Shrine and the one-and-only Kinkaku-ji, also known as the Golden Pavilion thanks to the brilliant gold leaf that coats the top two floors. Watch its dazzling reflection dance across the pond as you learn about the tumultuous history and spiritual importance of this spectacular work of design. Next, visit Arashiyama and walk through the swaying stalks of the bamboo grove, a quintessential experience when visiting Kyoto. Conclude your day at Tenryu-ji, Kyoto’s most cherished Zen temple. Meander through the carefully designed gardens, strolling around the central pond and taking in the view of the nearby Arashiyama mountains before visiting Gion, Kyoto’s most famous geisha district.
Following breakfast, journey to Nagoya and the Ninja Museum, where you’ll unravel the enigmatic secrets of the ancient ninjutsu arts, long shrouded in mystery and intrigue. Delve into their stealthy techniques, uncovering the skills that once defined these elusive figures. Continue to the Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology in Nagoya for an insider look into the evolution of industry in Japan.
Continue another 45 minutes to the coastal city of Hamamatsu, where you will enjoy the evening at leisure.
It’s time to leave Hamamatsu behind as you set off towards Tokyo. Stop off at Obuchi Sasaba for breathtaking Mount Fuji vistas, before continuing to Gotemba Fuji Heiwa Park to stroll around the manicured gardens while taking in the awe-inspiring beauty of Mount Fuji from a different perspective. This evening, continue to one of the world’s greatest metropolises.
Tokyo is brimming with life and culture, both historical and contemporary. Spend your leisure time immersing yourself in fields of digital flowers at the incredible teamLab Planets art installation or explore the forested paths of Yoyogi Park, visiting the picturesque Meiji Shrine. Tokyo’s world-class culinary scene beckons, from the delectable sushi at Michelin-starred Nishiazabu Taku to the much-lauded chocolate delights of Minimal Tomigaya.
Your day begins in the historic Asakusa district, window-shopping along Nakamise Shopping Street on your way to Tokyo’s oldest temple, Senso-ji. Continue to Tsukiji Outer Market – a bustling hub selling fresh seafood and other local delicacies. Your whirlwind city tour ends as you ascend to Tokyo Tower’s observation deck for panoramic views of the sprawling city. For the brave, scramble among the crowds through Shibuya Crossing, then rest up back at your hotel.
After one final breakfast, it’s time to say sayonara to Japan. You’ll be transferred to Haneda International Airport (HND) or Narita International Airport (NRT) where your journey comes to a close.
Departure & Transfers:
Checkout on your final day is at 10am. Please book your flights to depart from Haneda International Airport (HND) or Narita International Airport (NRT). Airport transfers are included on the last day of your tour. Your transfer will meet you at the hotel and take you to the airport.
This revered Shinto shrine, perched upon the beloved mountain of the same name, is renowned for its iconic pathway. Thousands of crimson torii gates create a tunnel of vivid colour and profound significance. As you make the ascent – becoming one of millions of pilgrims throughout the years – find yourself spellbound by the sublime beauty of the place. It stands as a living testament to Japan’s tremendous blending of nature, spirituality and human devotion … and shouldn’t be missed – just be careful not to look the kitsune statues in the eyes as you climb!
