Meet Miguel Maestre

Miguel Maestre

Chef, restaurateur, TV personality and author: Miguel Maestre does it all for love. After cooking stints in Scotland and Europe, Miguel emigrated from Spain to Australia to follow his now-wife, and soon after opened Australia’s biggest Spanish restaurant, El Toro Loco, in sunny Manly Beach. Since then, he’s made appearances on Channel 10’s Dancing with the Stars, hosted Ready Steady Cook and been recognised by King Felipe VI for his outstanding representation of Spain in Australian media.

Some chefs are built different: after training at iconic London venues The Connaught and Le Souffle, Gary Mehigan returned to Melbourne for a blazing career across some of the city’s best restaurants. He served for a decade on Channel 10’s MasterChef (alongside Matt Preston) and is currently working on crafting documentaries filled with delicious wonder for National Geographic.
