My name is Gill, I come from Tasmania and haven't been home for 15 years. Travelled home for my 80th birthday with my daughter, meeting up with old friends and family. My trip was 8 days but would have loved to have stayed longer. On 2 occasions the Grand Chancellor arranged high teas for me and mine. The effort and time put in to those high teas was amazing, even with food allergies involved. The Atrium dining was beautiful as well. The staff, from reservations, thankyou Stephanie, the desk, the restaurants, the parking were exceptional and could not do enough for us. Going above and beyond. The room was absolutely delightful and the view was spectacular. Sitting watching the world go by from my room was a major highlight. I could not recommend the Grand Chancellor, Hobart enough. It is so worth the visit. 🥰

I was on vacation and loved this hotel. Not only was it comfortable, clean and well staffed but it is in the perfect location to visit many of the local attractions via foot. I was lucky enough to get a room high up - that was a corner room with windows in two directions. Just watching the activity in the harbor was an added bonus - even at night.

When we arrived we had food in the Atrium bar, which was lovely! The freshest oysters I’ve ever had, along with a cheese plate and a few other nibbles. The service from Ashley was fantastic, and the food was fresh and tasty The room was very nice, with a pretty view of the city The only let down was unfortunately a pretty big one. The room service breakfast was woeful. The croissants are very small, but came up on plates that were clearly pre plated and kept in a cabinet, as they were stone cold on arrival. The toast was more like warm bread, with the hash browns being unseasoned and flavourless (they looked more like a brick of potato). The scrambled eggs though, well, I couldn’t even begin to tell you wtf they had done to them. They were a strange colour and texture and didn’t even taste like eggs We thought the saving grace would be the coffee, but it was also awful. We left our coffee and breakfast in favour of finding somewhere else to eat (like maybe the local prison) We don’t understand how the food from the bar could be so so good, and breakfast such a big miss We did let them know at checkout and weren’t charged for the breakfast, but we certainly wouldn’t recommend the room service here, though will happily stay here again sans breakfast

I stayed at Hotel Grand Chancellor for two nights during a recent business trip, and overall, it was a pleasant experience with a few areas for improvement. The location of the hotel is fantastic—conveniently situated with stunning views that really enhance the experience, especially if you enjoy a scenic backdrop. Both the room service and reception staff were excellent. They were friendly, efficient, and attentive, making sure all my needs were met during my stay. Their professionalism definitely stood out. However, I was a bit disappointed to find that bottled water was not complimentary. Given the price of the rooms, it would have been a nice touch to include this as a basic amenity. Also, while my room was comfortable, I found that the washroom facilities felt a bit dated, which took away from the overall experience. The rooms themselves were adequate, but they lacked the modern feel I expected at this price point. In summary, Hotel Grand Chancellor has an amazing location and great service, but there's room for improvement in terms of amenities and room updates. With a few adjustments, it would be an even better choice for business travelers and tourists alike.
