Mitchell Grass Retreat sits at the edge of Longreach in Queensland’s wide-open outback, a short scenic drive from the Qantas Founders Museum and the Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame. Explore the Thomson River, nearby national parks, walking trails or the region’s railway heritage. The hotel is located approximately a 5-minute drive from Longreach Airport (LRE) and Longreach Railway Station. Airport transfers are included in your package, please contact the hotel directly to arrange.

  • Guests receive a gourmet breakfast hamper for the duration of their stay, including granola, yoghurt, fruit compote, fresh fruit and freshly baked pastries.
  • The two-course private barbecue dinner includes premium scotch fillet, freshly made salads, bread rolls and condiments with vegetarian options available on request. This will take place at your tent or in a private setting at the Tin Shed, dependent on whether the venue is operational.
  • Smithy’s Outback Dinner & Show is a 2.5-hour experience set on the banks of the Thomson River, featuring a two-course camp oven–inspired dinner, billy tea and damper, full table-service dining, and live music and storytelling on Smithy’s River Stage. A licensed bar is available (cash or card accepted). Please note that the experience is seasonal and does not run daily, consult the Outback Aussie Tours website for exact dates https://outbackaussietours.com.au/tour/smithys-outback-dinner-show/. 7-Day Change of Mind ‘No Questions Asked’ Refund Guarantee: Things don’t always work out. Our 7-day Change of Mind Guarantee is there to help. Bookings (except for cruise bookings, flights and deposit fee, if applicable, which are subject to the cancellation terms of the relevant supplier) may be cancelled with a full refund provided that cancellation occurs strictly within 7 days from the date of purchase and provided that the cancellation is made no less than 14 days prior to the check-in date. Excludes flight and service fee, if applicable.

  • Cancellations outside of the 7-Day Change of Mind period will not be provided, except as required by Australian Consumer Law, your local law or as otherwise provided for in the Fine Print.

Flexible Cancellation: You can cancel your booking for credit up until 21 days prior to the original check-in date. This can be done via self-service in your ‘My Escapes’ account. Your credit will be valid for 12 months from the date of cancellation. Credits are not transferable and cannot be redeemed for cash. Excludes service fee, if applicable.
