What you'll see

Welcome to Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park! Standing both literally in the heart of Australia, and figuratively in the nation’s collective unconscious, the iconic outback park continues to draw visitors from across the country and the world. The impressive natural landmark and its surrounding bushland hold deep cultural significance for the traditional Anangu owners of the land – there’s no better way to glimpse the soul of the outback than by standing in the shadow of mighty Uluru.

Upon touchdown in Ayers Rock Airport (AYQ), catch the complimentary shuttle bus to the soaring white canvases of the acclaimed five-star retreat, Sails in the Desert. Part of the greater Ayers Rock Resort, Sails in the Desert boasts a gorgeous swimming pool surrounded by gently swaying gumtrees, the truly one-of-a-kind Mulgara Gallery and serene Red Ochre Spa – if you’ve ever dreamed of enjoying a massage in the Red Centre, now’s your chance! The resort also hosts a wealth of top-notch dining venues, including relaxed brasserie Ilkari Restaurant and Indigenous-inspired cocktail paradise Walpa Lobby Bar.

After checking in and dropping your bags, meet your tour guide at 1.30pm and enjoy a lazy lap of Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park – take in the sheer splendour of your surroundings before returning to the resort to prepare for an evening unlike anything else. Rightfully legendary among visitors, Ayers Rock Resort’s Sounds of Silence dinner offers guests a dramatic glimpse into the magic and mystery of the Red Centre from one of the best seats in the house – atop an ochre dune. As twilight falls, canapes are served, wine is poured and the Milky Way arrives in all its spectacular majesty to the rhythmic droning of traditional didgeridoos. Fresh, bush tucker-inspired cuisine awaits as the evening’s resident ‘star talker’ walks you through the evening sky, drawing your attention to constellations and planets that can only be seen in the utterly clear evening atmosphere of the bush.

Please note: Ayers Rock Resort has moved to cashless transactions. Cash payments made onsite will not be accepted.
