A vision of creating Australia’s first health retreat was all it took for retail baron Mark Foy to begin his wellness journey. Constructed in 1903, the same year Foy successfully applied to change the township name to Medlow Bath, The Hydro Majestic Hotel opened its doors in July 1904 – complete with a steam-driven generator imported from Germany and working electricity (a novelty for the time as Sydney would get electricity four whole days later).

Having attracted guests from around Australia and the world, including Dame Nellie Melba and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the hotel was also once turned into a hospital for American casualties from the battles of the Coral Sea and South Pacific.

Beautifully restored to its former glory following multi-million-dollar renovations, The Hydro Majestic Hotel offers art deco-inspired accommodation in a luxe escape to yesteryear.   • Dining Credit: The credit must be used during your stay and is valid exclusively for food and drinks at onsite restaurants and outlets. Please note that any unused portion of the credit is non-refundable and cannot be issued as a credit.
  • Daily sparkling wine breakfast includes a full buffet breakfast and a glass of Victoria Park sparkling wine. Breakfast is served at The Wintergarden from 7am to 10am.
  • The history tour runs for approximately 60 minutes and is available daily at 11am and 3pm departing from the Casino Lobby. Guests must arrive 15 minutes prior to the start time. Prebooking with the hotel reservation team is required.

  • The three-course a la carte dinner upgrade (select packages only) is available from 6pm to 8pm daily at The Wintergarden. Reservations must be made with the hotel prior to arrival.
