K'gari Explorer Tours

K’gari is a UNESCO World Heritage-listed destination located off the southeastern coast of Queensland, approximately 3 hours by car north of Brisbane and 2.5 hours north of the Sunshine Coast. Your package includes return ferry transfers between River Heads Ferry Terminal and K’gari (approximately a 50-minute boat ride). The River Heads Ferry Terminal is a 15-minute drive from Hervey Bay Airport (HVB). Airport transfers are not included in your package, please plan accordingly.

7-Day Change of Mind ‘No Questions Asked’ Refund Guarantee: Things don’t always work out. Our 7-day Change of Mind Guarantee is there to help. Bookings (except for cruise bookings, flights and deposit fee, if applicable, which are subject to the cancellation terms of the relevant supplier) may be cancelled with a full refund provided that cancellation occurs strictly within 7 days from the date of purchase and provided that the cancellation is made no less than 14 days prior to the check-in date. Excludes flight and service fee, if applicable.

• Cancellations outside of the 7-Day Change of Mind period will not be provided, except as required by Australian Consumer Law, your local law or as otherwise provided for in the Fine Print.

Date Changes: If you need to amend your booking, you are permitted ONE date change up until 45 days before your original check-in date. Please contact our 24/7 customer service team to enquire. Subject to availability and surcharges.

Please Note:

• Dining inclusions do not include drinks (unless otherwise stated). Menus are subject to change without notice.
• Three breakfasts, two morning teas on tour days, one resort lunch and one picnic lunch are included. Dinner is at leisure and guests’ own expense throughout the tour.
• Morning tea is only included on the two days of 4WD touring.
• The one-time sunset drink includes beer, wine or soft drink is available at the Sunset Bar.
• The one-time cheese platter is available at Sunset Bar.
• The terrain on the guided 4WD tours can be uneven and bumpy, so it is recommended that any guests who are pregnant or have neck or back concerns consult with a doctor before participation, to ensure their comfort and safety. It is encouraged that guests take their personal needs into account when planning their adventure.
• Spa Credit: The included credit must be used during your stay. Any unused credit will be forfeited and is not transferable or redeemable for cash. Credit can be used on treatments at Island Day Spa at Kingfisher Bay Resort only. No minimum spend applies. Due to limited availability your spa booking should be made prior to arrival.
• Resort Activity Credit: The credit is valid for select activities at Kingfisher Bay Resort. It does not apply to third party operators such as Whale Watching, Aqua Oasis Cruise or Aussie Trax 4WD Hire. The included credit must be used during your stay. Any unused credit will be forfeited and is not transferable or redeemable for cash. No minimum spend applies.
• The welcome bottle of wine will be delivered to your room.
• What to bring: Swimmers, a towel, a hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, comfortable walking shoes or thongs, sunglasses, essential medication and camera.
• The Illumina Light Show features high-frequency lighting and strobe effects that may cause adverse reactions for those sensitive to such visual elements. Please consider this before participation.

Return Ferry Transfers

• Includes: Transfer to/from ferry departure point, return 50-minute boat ride between River Heads Ferry Terminal and Kingfisher Bay Resort.
• On day one of tour, arrive early and check in at the tour operator Mainland Reception in River Heads (54 Ariadne St. on Google Maps).
• After arriving at this location, a courtesy coach will provide transport to the ferry departure point
• Transfers are booked automatically with tour reservation and run at 1pm on day one of tour, from River Heads Ferry Terminal to Kingfisher Bay Resort; and at 10.15am on the last day of tour, from Kingfisher Bay Resort to River Heads Ferry Terminal.
• If required, transfer times can be amended directly with the Reservations Team at reservations@fraserexplorertours.com.au (subject to availability).
• Secure Car Park Facilities: The secure facility is located adjacent to River Heads Reception. Bookings are highly recommended and can be made directly with Reservations Team at + 61 7 4194 9222 or 1800 372 737 (within Australia).

K’gari Explorer Tour Itinerary

• Day 1: Welcome to K’gari. Following the ferry crossing from River Heads, check into Kingfisher Bay Resort. For the remainder of the day, choose to do as much or as little as you like. Optional activities can include a ranger-guided canoe paddle, bush tucker talk and taste experience, plus ranger-guided walks and talks (at own expense, pre-booking is essential). Enjoy a sunset drink of beer, wine or soft drink before watching the Illumina Lightshow after dark at Kingfisher Bay.
• Day 2: Today is your first full day of guided 4WD touring. Highlights may include:
  • Relax along the pristine white silica shore of Lake McKenzie
  • Admire the towering trees from Central Station camping area
  • Wander through the subtropical rainforest of Pile Valley
  • Be amazed by the technicoloured sand cliffs of The Pinnacles
  • A buffet lunch will be served at K’gari Beach Resort, your accommodation for the night.
• Day 3: Tackle K’gari again after breakfast with another full day of guided 4WD touring. Highlights may include:
  • Cruise down K’gari’s beach highway (you may join a scenic joy-flight at own expense)
  • Experience K’gari’s natural Champagne Pools
  • Trek across Hammerstone Sandblow and Lake Wabby
  • Wade through the shallow waters of Eli Creek
  • Discover the renowned SS Maheno Shipwreck
  • Refuel with a picnic lunch before returning to Kingfisher Bay Resort for a final night.
• Day 4: Wake early and enjoy breakfast plus full access to the resort’s facilities, before a ferry transfer back to the mainland, followed by a transfer to your Hervey Bay accommodation or the airport.
• Day 5 (select packages only): Enjoy an extra day to explore K’gari at leisure with one additional night at Kingfisher Bay Resort.
