Arrive in Amman and be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. Spend the rest of the day at leisure. In the evening, meet your tour leader and the rest of the group a welcome dinner at the hotel.

DAY 2 – Amman Tour – Petra By Night

Enjoy a morning tour of Amman, the capital and the largest city of Jordan. Stop at the ancient Citadel, towering above Downtown and the rest of the capital. This is the original city, with its monumental Temple of Hercules, Umayyad Palace, National Archaeological Museum and panoramic views of Amman’s jabals (hills) and the Roman Theatre, one of the largest and most impressive amphitheaters of the ancient world.

Transfer to Petra, arriving at your hotel in the late afternoon. This evening enjoy a magical experience of Petra by Night. Experience an incredible walk down The Siq, with your path lit only by candlelight, and your first glimpse of the Treasury through a cleft in the wall. This is one of the most inspiring and heart-thumping moments in travel, an experience that will take your breath away.

DAY 3 – Full day tour of Petra

Enjoy a full day of exploring Petra, with an early start to avoid the tourist crowds. The main path from the Treasury opens out to a wider valley lined with tombs, caves and a small amphitheater cut into the rockface. Further on, explore the Roman quarter, a colonnaded street surrounded by the ruins of temples. Afterwards, there’s an option to take the climb up to the remote Monastery. The climb takes about 50 minutes and is best done in the late morning when there is some shade along the way. The Monastery itself is quite photogenic and there are stunning views from some of the nearby rocks. Return to the hotel in late afternoon.

DAY 4 – Petra – Wadi Rum

Head to Wadi Rum, on a scenic route where the scenery changes from craggy hills to a wider expanse of open desert interspersed by rocky outcrops. Wadi Rum is like the landscape of another planet, a series of dramatic jebels (rocky mounds), joined together by valleys of sand that stretch for miles toward a hazy, distant horizon. Look out for black Bedouin tents and flocks of sheep and goats as a reminder of the few Jordanians who still practise this traditional lifestyle.

Arrive at our tented desert resort just in time for sunset – and there is no better place to see this then at our camp. Then enjoy a truly special meal of Zarb, a traditional Bedouin meal cooked under the ground for many hours infused with different herbs and spices that stimulate your senses.

DAY 5 – Wadi Rum – Dead Sea

After breakfast, enjoy a 4WD safari to explore the surrounds. Head to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on Earth, an intense blue lake surrounded by reddish brown hills. Experience the sensation of floating in its water and spend the day at the resort enjoying swimming and relaxation, with views across the Dead Sea to Jericho and Jerusalem, about 27km away.

DAY 6 – Dead Sea – Bethany – Madaba and Mt Nebo

Visit the Baptism Site at Bethany, where it is believed John the Baptist lived and Jesus was baptised. Then head to the laidback town of Madaba, best known for its superb, historically significant Byzantine-era mosaics; a map of the Holy Land which was unearthed on the floor of St Georges Church in 1884.

After lunch at the beautiful Haret Jdoudna restaurant visit Mt Nebo, where Moses first cast his eyes upon the Promised Land before we head back to the Dead Sea.

Continue to Amman for a free afternoon before we gather and enjoy our last dinner in Jordan at a local favourite Fakhr El - Din restaurant in Amman.

DAY 8 – Amman – Cairo

Transfer to the airport for your flight to Cairo. On arrival, be met by your local guide and transferred to the Marriott Mena House, located just minutes from the famous pyramids, for check in. Head to the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities where you can feast your eyes on the priceless artefacts – including treasures from the tomb of Tutankhamun – which date back across 5000 years of Egypt’s history. See the famous Royal Mummies Halls, which is home to the mummified remains of Egyptian pharaohs. This evening, we enjoy a group dinner at a local favourite.

DAY 9 – Giza Pyramid Tour

Experience the mystery and majesty of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed ancient pyramids as you tour the Giza Plateau. See the legendary Great Pyramid of Giza – the only remaining wonder of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World – which is believed to have been constructed around 2,560BC in the Fourth Dynasty, the Pyramid of Khafre and the Pyramid of Chephren. Learn the fascinating history behind the pyramids, which were constructed as tombs for Egyptian pharaohs.

Visit the Giza Solar Boat Museum, where the funerary ship created for Khufu (King Cheops) – which was buried at the foot of the Great Pyramid of Giza in around 2,500BC – resides, and a familiar sight from the movies, the Great Sphinx of Giza. Enjoy an evening at leisure.

Day 10 - Embark in Aswan – Nile cruise

This morning you are transferred to the airport for your flight to Aswan. On arrival, you are transferred to the river to board the five-star deluxe Nile cruise boat the Sanctuary Sun Boat IV, moored in a private dock, where you will be welcomed by the crew. Lunch will be served on board and in the afternoon, visit the Granite Quarries, which supplied the ancient Egyptians with most of the hard stone used to build the pyramids and temples, and still hold a huge unfinished obelisk. Enjoy afternoon tea served in the lounge and tonight you will be greeted by your Boat Manager as you enjoy a selection of canapés with some complimentary Egyptian wine and local beer. Gourmet dinner served on board.

DAY 11 – Nile Cruise – Philae, Kom Ombo and Edfu Temples

Breakfast buffet on board is followed by a short motorboat ride to visit the romantic and majestic Philae Temple on the Island of Agilika. Back on board enjoy an Egyptian cooking lesson with the boat’s local chef. Enjoy lunch, while you cruise to Kom Ombo, then visit the magnificent Temple of Kom Ombo, dedicated to the crocodile-god Sobek. Enjoy afternoon tea while you cruise to Edfu followed by a chance to explore the Temple of Horus at Edfu.

Tonight’s dinner on board will be an “Egyptian Night” themed party for all guests, with a chance to dress up in traditional Egyptian “galabeyya”. Dinner will be a lavish buffet of Egyptian specialties, followed by oriental music and dancing for everyone.

DAY 12 – Nile Cruise – East and West Bank of Luxor

Enjoy a breakfast buffet on board whilst sailing to Luxor. Your Egyptologist will guide you around the strikingly graceful Temple of Luxor dedicated to the god Amun and on to the Temple of Karnak. After lunch, visit the Valley of the Kings. You will have the chance to visit at least one tomb in the Valley of the Queens and visit the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut. On the way back to the river Nile, pass by the famed Colossi of Memnon, known in Ancient Greek times for their haunting voices at dawn. Return to your cruise for afternoon tea on board.

Tonight’s farewell dinner will be a gala dinner (jacket required), with white-gloved waiters serving gourmet cuisine.

DAY 13 – Luxor – Cairo

On board, enjoy a buffet breakfast before you disembark and fly back to Cairo. On arrival be met and transferred to your hotel before a day visiting the highlights of Islamic Cairo. First stop is the Citadel. Perched high on limestone hills above Cairo, the Citadel is a medieval fortress built by Salah El Din (Saladin) in 1176 to protect the city from Crusaders. The Citadel has always had a military use, and was expanded over the centuries by Egypt’s rulers who often resided there. Today, the Citadel complex has mosques and museums, including the National Military Museum.

Visit the Mosque of Sultan Hassan, with its grand, soaring architecture and rich decoration, one of the finest in Egypt. In recesses around its open courtyard, each of the four schools of Sunni Islam was taught to students, and in its mausoleum, Sultan Hassan’s sons are buried. Finish off the day with a visit to one of the most impressive markets in the world – the Khan El Khalili Bazars. Journey from one end of the Bazaar to the other, recalling a time when the area was the heart of the old walled city of Cairo. The fascinating Khan El-Khalili Bazaar is reputed to be the largest bazaar in the Middle East. Originally founded as a watering stop for caravanserai in the 14th century, the bazaar has now grown to vast proportions. Wander through the labyrinth of narrow streets and find workshops and stalls selling all manner of things from woodwork, glassware and leather goods to perfumes, fabrics and Pharaonic curiosities. In the evening, enjoy your final dinner as a group.

DAY 14 – Tour ends

Transfer to the airport where you farewell your leader and board your onward flight.

Wow! We had such an amazing experience in Wadi Rum Discovery Bedu camp. We were very comfortable and the food was great. Sunsets and stargazing were the best. We definitely want to come back and hopefully stay for longer than just one night

The light at the dead sea is just amazing! colors are changing all day, the intense blue shining with daylight and at sunset its an explosion of pink..... Maybe because you are 400 meters below sea level, the energy feels so pure and untouched, I had a total mystical experience being there for few days, its one of the places on Earth where I felt most happy - now I understand why its the site of biblical events. I would love to go back there again in my lifetime
