What You’ll Love...

The Holi Festival – What you need to know

Holi Festival is considered one of the most famous Indian festivals, with celebrations taking place in almost every part of the country. Also known as the “festival of love” (as on this day people get together and forget all resentments and bad feeling towards each other) Holi lasts for a day and a night, signifying the victory of good over evil and the arrival of spring – leaving a sense of joy, peace and happiness with everyone. As one of the oldest festivals in India, there are many legends and stories behind its origins, but it’s believed that the hotspot for the best Holi experience is the birth place of Krishna: The Braj region which comprises of Mathura and Vrindavan.

The tour will take you right in the heart of the Braj region, where it all began: It is infact believed that Mathura was the birth place of Krishna and Vrindavan was the place where he grew up. The story goes that one day, young Krishna complained to his mother about the injustice of nature which made Radha (his friend) so fair and he so dark. To pacify the crying young Krishna, his mother asked him to go and colour Radha's face in whichever colour he wanted - thus starting the tradition of playing Holi and applying colours on loved ones' faces during the festival.

Here in Mathura, surrounded by colours and people, embracing the incredible energy that vibrates through the air during this special day of the year, you will experience the ultimate Holi celebrations.

The Sights – Visit the Golden Triangle, the most famous tourist route connecting Delhi, Agra and Jaipur

Discover the gilded palaces, fragrant markets and ancient architecture of this exotic land as you travel through the cities of Delhi, Agra and Jaipur, known as the Golden Triangle of India.

Soak up the sights of the sprawling and wonderfully diverse Delhi, including the palatial 17th-century Jama Masjid mosque, one of the most impressive in the whole of India; the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Humayun’s Tomb; Rashtrapati Bhavan, home to the President of India; Parliament House and more.

Stand in awe in front of the striking Taj Mahal, sitting peacefully near the banks of Yamuna River, a symbol of love, commitment and spirituality. Listen to the moving love story of Shah Jahan and his wife Mumtaz Mahal, and the tragic event that led to the construction of the Taj Mahal. Gaze at the bejeweled walls, intricate patterns and landscaped gardens of India’s most iconic site, before crossing the river to the UNESCO-listed Agra Fort.

Relive the days of India’s regal rulers as you explore the many forts and palaces of Jaipur. Known as the “Pink City", Jaipur’s terracotta and pink hued-walls are a symbol of hospitality, while the grand Amber Fort and City Palace reflect a bygone era of opulence and wealth.
