What You’ll Love…

The Accommodation – Stay in Germany’s finest five-star hotels

Internationally renowned, the Rocco Forte brand is famed for its excellent properties, combining spectacular interior design, Michelin-starred cuisine, first-class facilities and five-star service. A long-standing family business, the brand has passed through four generations and is currently helmed by Sir Rocco, his sister Olga Polizzi and his three children. Exuding Anglo-Italian style, each property has been lovingly curated to help you feel at home, with special touches from interior designer Olga.

In Frankfurt, savour the elegance of the Rocco Forte Villa Kennedy, located on the leafy banks of the River Main. Close to the city centre but set slightly apart from the usual tourist hubbub, this stunning, secluded residence has played host to Hollywood VIPs and was converted from the historic family home Villa Speyer, built in 1901. The Villa Garden is beautiful place to sit back with a drink, while the on-site Gusto Restaurant serves up award-winning dishes by Michelin-starred chef Fulvio Pierangelini.

Experience more of the renowned hotel brand’s excellence at the Rocco Forte The Charles Hotel in Munich. Effortlessly stylish, the interiors have been designed by Olga to exude elegance, while work from local artists adorns the walls. The Charles Spa is on hand to soothe tired travellers with revitalising treatments, while Sophia’s Restaurant & Bar serves up delectable dishes and handcrafted cocktails, and The Library offers traditional afternoon tea.

On select tour dates, stay at the Radisson Blu Badischer Hof Hotel in Baden-Baden, a modernised former Capuchin monastery and meeting place for 19th-century nobility. Still boasting classical architecture from this time, this luxe hotel offers authentic German dining and a stylish wellness centre with fitness facilities and a top-tier spa. All other dates will stay at the contemporary Atlantic Parkhotel, offering a quintessentially European garden terrace and Piano Bar.

The Experiences – Witness the beauty of the Black Forest and the majestic Neuschwanstein Castle

Your tour begins in Frankfurt, a major financial hub and former home of poet Goethe. A walking tour will introduce you to the city’s diverse history with visits to the Römer town hall and square, the Kaiserdom cathedral and Frankfurt Stock Exchange.

In the Rhine Valley, admire the Ehrenfels Castle ruins and Niederwalddenkmal monument before enjoying a wine tasting at the local Adolf Störzel winery. Find out about wine-growing in the region while sampling some of the delicious varieties on offer.

Travel to Heidelberg, widely regarded as Germany’s most romantic city. Steeped in history and abundant in old-world charm, the presence of its university adds a youthful feel. A local guide will take you to Schloss Heidelberg castle and its beautiful gardens, offering a chance to explore the stunning grounds.

In the Black Forest spa town of Baden-Baden, embrace the German tradition of afternoon ‘Kaffee und Kuchen’ (cake and coffee) with a Black Forest gateau tasting. You’ll uncover more of this romantic region during a full-day excursion, visiting one of the Black Forest’s popular museums.

Stop off in Ulm, home to the tallest church in the world, and sample a delicious Swabian specialty: Maultaschen. A little like ravioli, these pockets of fresh pasta are traditionally filled with meat and served with a refreshing beer.

Your adventure ends in Munich, with a guided tour to architectural wonders including the Old Town Hall and St Peters Church – and a visit to the world-famous Hofbräuhaus beer hall.

The highlight of your time in Munich will no doubt be your visit to Neuschwanstein Castle, built by the reclusive Bavarian King Ludwig II in the 19th century. A perfect example of castle romanticism architecture, its grand turrets could be straight out of a fairytale.

Christmas Market Departure Available - Travel in December for a magical festive experience

Experience the twinkling lights, hot mulled wine and fragrant spiced gingerbread of Germany's Christmas markets with a December departure available. The Frankfurt Christmas market is amongst the largest in Germany and offers a huge variety of stalls and a majestic Christmas tree across Römerberg and St Paul's Square.

Surrounded by the mountains of the Black Forest, the Baden-Baden Christmas market has a distinct fairytale feel. Candles flicker in front of the famous Kurhaus and boutique stalls sell everything from trinkets to festive treats.

Meanwhile, Munich's main Christmas market spreads across the famous Marienplatz, spanning 20,000sqm. A true testament to old-world Bavarian character, you'll find many handmade items here, including ancient German Christmas decorations such as hand-painted glass baubles.
