Nestled on the banks of the Ord River and framed by rock formations that are 350 million years old, Kununurra has long welcomed those in search of adventure.
On arrival, you’ll be met and transferred to your hotel: the award-winning Kununurra Country Club Resort. Day 2: Purnululu National Park
After breakfast, depart for Purnululu National Park. The park is home to the famed black and orange striped domes of the Bungle Bungle Range, towering in some places at 578 metres above sea level. Standing over a grass-covered plain, the steep cliffs that form the western face were created by the constant erosion of river movements over a staggering 20 million years. The range has both geological and Indigenous cultural significance. It is an imposing sight and one that you are sure to remember forever.
Located in the heart of the national park is your unique accommodation for the next two nights: Bungle Bungle Wilderness Lodge. Here, you’ll enjoy a wilderness glamping experience like no other under the stars, in a spectacular location alongside Piccaninny Creek. You’ll truly be at one with nature here: relax on your private deck to admire the local bird life or see if you can spot a kangaroo jumping through the bush. Recount the day’s adventures as you sit down to dinner with your fellow travellers this evening, before retiring to your luxe safari tent complete with a private ensuite.

Day 3: Purnululu National Park – Piccaninny Creek – Cathedral Gorge
After breakfast, start your day of discovery of this incredible, UNESCO World Heritage-listed national park. Catch your first glimpse of the range before venturing to the southern end of the park to explore Piccaninny Creek, a winding gorge within the domes. Your next stop is Cathedral Gorge, a natural amphitheatre of red rock, created by millions of years of water erosion. This spacious cavern is renowned for its acoustics, and you’ll see why as you wander through it. We can’t think of a more fitting way to end your day of discovery than watching the sunset over the Bungle Bungle Range – with a glass of bubbly in hand, of course.

Day 4: Halls Creek – Fitzroy Crossing
This morning head to Halls Creek and admire the unusual China Wall. This natural phenomenon consists of a sparkling wall of white quartz rising out of the bush, running for many kilometres and up to six metres tall in places. Its formation is reminiscent of the Great Wall of China (hence its name).
Continue on towards Fitzroy Crossing, a small settlement situated on the Fitzroy River where you’ll truly step back in time. This authentic outback town was once a bustling hub for travellers looking to pass over the river, and is still home to the Crossing Inn, the general store and inn founded in 1897.
Accommodation: Fitzroy River Lodge
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Day 5: Geike Gorge – Depart Broome
This morning, venture to Windjana Gorge. Carved by the Lennard River, this is one of the region’s most breathtaking gorges, covering over 3km and boasting incredible walls that rise hundreds of metres. Afterwards, we continue on to Tunnel Creek National Park, Western Australia’s oldest cave system. Trek for 750 metres underground and wade through permanent pools, admiring the numerous species of bats living in the caves and emerge on the other side to discover a serene oasis. Continue onto Windjana Gorge, where ancient marine fossils lay embedded in the gorge walls.
Later, return to Broome, where your journey comes to an end. Depart from Broome Airport (BME) for your onward journey.
