Admire masterpieces at Hong Kong Museum of Art
For the artistically inclined on the hunt for intriguing and unique exhibitions, Hong Kong Museum of Art offers a wide variety of must-see displays. Paving the way for Hong Kong’s art scene, the gallery was the first of its kind in the city. The gallery is now home to over 18,000 pieces spanning across Chinese and Western, ancient, and contemporary styles. Exhibitions are constantly evolving and range from immersive light installations to multisensory projects and traditionally displayed works. Here is where you can gain a greater appreciation for the sheer talent and tradition of art making in Hong Kong.
See the city from a new vantage point on the Hong Kong Observation Wheel
Pause your leisurely wandering of the Central Harbourfront and take to the skies for a birds-eye view of the city from the Hong Kong Observation Wheel. This impressive Ferris wheel stands 60 metres tall and offers unparalleled views of the sparkling skyline. Visit during the day to spot Tsim Sha Tsui from across Victoria Harbour or opt to visit at night to see the city lights at their most glittery. Capture the beautiful memory with a Hong Kong Observation Wheel Photo Experience, a take-home memento of you and your loved ones against the backdrop of breathtaking city views.
Barter like a local at Hong Kong’s lively markets
Feel a rush of adrenaline as you navigate your way through Hong Kong’s lively marketplaces. Renowned for mouth-watering traditional street food and extremely affordable apparel, the sheer variety of markets are loved by locals just as much as visitors. Find the perfect souvenir at the Ladies’ Market, the city’s most famous open market, or spend an afternoon soaking up the incredible scents at the Flower Market. If a night-time stroll and shop sounds like fun, Temple Street Night Market is the largest and most dynamic market that comes alive after sunset.
Admire city views from Victoria Peak
Secure a front-row seat to Hong Kong’s renowned skyline atop the city’s tallest hill, Victoria Peak, renowned by locals as the premier spot to take in the city’s towering grandeur. Make your way up the incline on the Peak Tram, one of the world’s longest-standing funicular railways, and watch as the buildings tilt at a curious angle in a mesmerising optical illusion as your cart makes the steep climb. Once you’ve reached the summit, browse The Peak Tower’s restaurants, shops and entertainment while lapping up the sky-high views.
Hike the Hong Kong Trail
Just 30 minutes from the city centre is one of Hong Kong’s most popular hiking trails: Dragon’s Back. On arrival, it’s easy to see how the trail received its name after spotting the narrow trails snaking across the hilltops. Start your hike at Shek O peak where you’re rewarded with peninsula panoramas and floating isles as you meander across winding paths. This hike is considered moderately challenging, but the white sands at Big Wave Bay are a well-deserved gift at the end of your journey.
See the city lights on a harbour cruise
Embark on a voyage from Tsim Sha Tsui to Wan Chai, cruising past skyscrapers on Victoria Harbour’s most popular ferry ride, the Star Ferry. This storied fleet has carried passengers across the Kowloon Peninsula’s southern tip to Hong Kong Island for over 120 years, with original 1950’s features present on all nine green and ivory vessels. We recommend booking an 8pm journey and heading starboard upon boarding, where you’ll be in primed position to witness the nightly Symphony of Lights show as it illuminates the city in an eruption of striking neon.
Take a day trip to a quiet fishing village
Contrary to Hong Kong’s buzzing metropolis, you can find a slower way of living just an hour away in the fishing village of Tai O. Coined ‘the Venice of Hong Kong’, this vibrant city is awash with traditional sampan boats, stilt houses and floating markets. A foodie’s paradise, theis town’s culinary scene is anything but outdated: visit Tai O bakery for more than 30 years of expertise funnelled into the best sugar doughnuts on the island. Tai O is perfect for a pit stop after visiting the giant Tian Tan Buddha, which is just a 10-minute drive away.

Moonkok by Moonzen
Local craft brewery Moonzen delivers chilled pints framed by vermillion walls and vivid emerald tile that are inspired by traditional teahouses and Chinese temples. This photogenic appeal extends beyond the setting, with a globally inspired range of bar bites delivered with aesthetic presentation. Hutong
Brimming with old-world Beijing splendour and boasting one of the city’s most spectacular views of Victoria Harbour, Hutong’s meticulous approach to the classics of Northern Chinese cuisine sets it apart. Here, artistry flows seamlessly from the kitchen to the table – Peking duck, marinated in mouth-numbingly delicious Szechuan spices, is dramatically set alight at the table, and the restaurant’s signature cocktail, the ‘Chinese Lantern,’ takes native mandarin and plum flavours and tops it with a generous splash of Veuve Clicquot champagne.
Kam’s Roast Goose
There’s a reason why daily lines of hungry Hong Kongers snake around the block and every cut is sold out by 3pm – Kam’s Roast Goose is the undisputed king of Cantonese barbecue. Each bird is lovingly roasted, glazed in a top-secret Hoisin blend and placed atop a bed of noodles and blanched bok choi. Every bite releases a thunderclap of flavour as smoky, savoury and sweet flavours dance on the tongue. Kam’s toro char siu is also incredible – and for an extra dash of decadence (and a modest surcharge), Kam’s will top the roast pork with flakes of gold.
Man Mano by Woolly Pig
It’s takes courage to sell handmade artisanal pasta in a country that’s famous for its hand-pulled noodles, but relaxed trattoria Man Mano by Wooly Pig bravely steps up to the plate. Start with burrata – served with oven-roasted zucchini, olives and macadamia nuts – and a smooth negroni, before continuing to the restaurant’s pillow-soft gnocchi roma, luxuriously topped with spiced cotechino sausage. Finish with a salted caramel cream-stuffed cannoli or a pistachio-dusted cannoncini. Che buono!
Dara
Dara’s spectacular interior design – boasting midnight-black interiors, splashes of forest green and traditional Kapampangan flourishes – promises an unforgettable culinary journey to the Philippines and beyond. It’s authentic comfort food backed by centuries of homestyle cookery – go for the sizzling sisig (pork belly and chicken liver flavoured with onions and chili), sublime with an accompanying squeeze of calamansi lemon, or try Dara’s kare-kare stew, with thick chunks of pork belly slathered in a rich peanut and toasted rice sauce.
