Wild Kiwi Encounter on Stewart Island
Embark on an unforgettable adventure on Rakiura Stewart Island in search of the Southern brown kiwi (tokoeka). Begin with a pre-sunset cruise around nearby islands, where you may spot wildlife such as albatross, penguins, tītī (mutton bird), and New Zealand fur seals. After an introduction to kiwi behaviour and conservation, arrive at Little Glory Cove for a guided walk through coastal forest and along a secluded beach with expert guides to help spot kiwi in the wild.
Wild Kiwi & Culture Encounter: Explore Oneke (“The Neck”), hear stories of Māori and European history, and enjoy a night-time kiwi search. Afterwards, warm up with a drink in a traditional whare before cruising back to Oban.
