Outback Pioneers is located in Longreach, a town in outback Queensland sitting roughly in the geographic centre of the state. It’s a town with serious historical credentials, the birthplace of Qantas, home of the Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame and a gateway to the Channel Country. Brisbane Airport (BNE) is a 2.5 hour flight away. The hotel is located approximately a 4-minute drive from Longreach Airport (LRE). Bookings (except for cruise bookings, flights and deposit fee, if applicable, which are subject to the cancellation terms of the relevant supplier) may be cancelled with a full refund provided that cancellation occurs strictly within 7 days from the date of purchase and provided that the cancellation is made no less than 14 days prior to the check-in date. Excludes flight and service fee, if applicable.

• Cancellations outside of the 7-Day Change of Mind period will not be provided, except as required by Australian Consumer Law, your local law or as otherwise provided for in the Fine Print.

Flexible Cancellation: You can cancel your booking for credit up until 21 days prior to the original check-in date. This can be done via self-service in your ‘My Escapes’ account. Your credit will be valid for 12 months from the date of cancellation. Credits are not transferable and cannot be redeemed for cash. Excludes service fee, if applicable.

Date Changes: If you need to amend your booking, you can self-service unlimited date changes in your ‘My Escapes’ account up until 21 days before your original check-in date. • The Starlights Cruise includes a leisurely river cruise on a paddlewheeler with commentary from your skipper, a two-course stockman’s dinner by the campfire, traditional bush entertainment, Starlight’s Spectacular Sound & Light Show on the riverbank, billy tea and damper with golden syrup.
• Guests need to provide any dietaries in advance.
• This stay is not recommended for children under five.
• The maximum number of guests on the transport coach is 57.

Longreach Stoyteller – 3-day, 2-night tour inclusions:

• Itinerary:
  • Monday: Check in after 3pm at The Staging Post, where your welcome gift and pack will be waiting for you. At 3.45pm join your fellow travellers at The Welcome Home next door for a meet and greet before transferring to the Thomson River for Starlight’s Cruise Experience. The cruise is followed by a hearty stockman’s dinner around the campfire with bush poetry then the Starlight’s Spectacular Sound & Light Show. Bring your own alcohol.
  • Tuesday: Enjoy an early gourmet buffet breakfast at The Staging Post. Afterwards you’ll be transferred to your Nogo Station Experience, which tours Longreach before heading out to the Kinnon family’s historic station. Your host will take you on an insiders’ journey of station life, including the merino story in the wool shed, Captain Starlight’s stockyards, and a station safari by open-top, double-decker bus to spot outback animals. Finish with a saddle-bag lunch and billy-tea by the gidgee campfire. Transfer to the Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame to explore the pioneering artifacts, followed by Qantas Founders Museum to discover the early history of flight. Freshen up at your accommodation before your Stonegrill® Dining Experience. Bring your own alcohol.
  • Wednesday: Check-out and meet at The Welcome Home for a gourmet buffet breakfast. Watch the harnessing of the stagecoach horses, then see the Longreach Town Crier announce the day’s activities including the famous Cobb & Co Stagecoach Experience. This experience includes a stagecoach ride along the old Longreach to Windorah mail route, home-baked scones and tea in our tearoom, followed by a classic Australian movie. Discover the Cobb and Co Courtyard collections and enjoy a billy-can lunch. Transfer to Longreach airport for your return home.
• Two buffet breakfasts at The Welcome Home served from 6.30–9am,
• Two lunches: a saddle bag lunch on the Nogo Station experience and a billy-can lunch on the Cobb & Co Stagecoach experience.
• Two dinners: a Stonegrill Dining Experience and a Stockman’s campfire dinner under the stars on Starlight’s Cruise.
• Starlight’s Cruise departs Mondays at 4.30pm. This includes a leisurely river cruise on a paddlewheeler with commentary from your skipper, a two-course stockman’s dinner by the campfire, traditional bush entertainment, Starlight’s Spectacular Sound & Light Show on the riverbank, billy tea and damper with golden syrup.
• The Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame entry includes transfers and is available Sundays.
• The Cobb & Co Stagecoach experience departs Wednesdays at 8.30am, and includes a ride on the original Longreach-Windorah mail route, a gallop down the bush track, morning tea and a classic movie with popcorn in the traditional theatrette.
• The Nogo Station experience departs Tuesdays from 7.45am.

Weekend Out West 4-day, 3-night tour inclusions:

• Itinerary:
  • Friday: Check in after 3pm at The Staging Post, where your welcome gift and pack will be waiting for you. Enjoy time to take a stroll around town and refresh before your Stonegrill Dining Experience at 6pm at the historic The Welcome Home, just a few steps away from your accommodation. Bring your own alcohol.
  • Saturday: It’s an early start with breakfast in your room before departing for Winton at 6.30am. Enjoy the outback scenery and your driver’s commentary before arriving at the award-winning Australian Age of Dinosaurs museum with its spectacular Dinosaur Canyon display. A break is followed by an hour to explore the quintessential outback town of Winton. Lunch is at the North Gregory Hotel, made famous by Banjo Paterson, and then visit the architecturally-acclaimed Waltzing Matilda Centre to learn more about our national song. Arrive back in Longreach around 4.15pm ready for the Starlight’s Cruise Experience at sunset on the Thomson river. Your evening includes a stockman’s campfire dinner under the stars, bush entertainment and the Starlight’s Spectacular Sound & Light Picture Show. Bring your own alcohol. Transfer back to your accommodation at 8.30pm.
  • Sunday: Enjoy a breakfast basket in your room followed by transfer to the Qantas Founders Museum at 10am. There’s plenty of time to absorb the stories and see the iconic planes before lunch in the cafe there at 1pm. At 2.30pm, you’ll transfer to the famous Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame and then back to your accommodation at 4pm. Dinner is at a local restaurant at 6pm.
  • Monday: You can’t leave Longreach without doing the Cobb & Co Stagecoach Experience, so after buffet breakfast and an 8am checkout, be ready for your ride back into the pioneer past at 8.30am. The experience includes morning tea, a classic bush movie and the Cobb and Co Courtyard collections with a billy-can lunch. You’ll also have time to pop into The Station Store for last minute gifts before transferring back to the airport at 1.15pm.
• Three breakfasts: two continental breakfasts served in-room and one buffet breakfast at The Welcome Home served from 6.30–9am.
• Three lunches: a meal at the North Gregory Hotel, lunch at the Qantas Founders Museum Café and a billy-can lunch on the Cobb & Co Stagecoach experience.
• Three dinners: a Stonegrill Dining experience, a Stockman’s campfire dinner under the stars on Starlight’s Cruise and a dinner at a local restaurant.
• Starlight’s Cruise departs Saturdays at 4.30pm.
