Here is my guide to the ultimate Singapore getaway, covering food & drink, arts, entertainment and most importantly a luxury stay!

Begin your incredible Singapore escape with a five-star stay at the world-renowned Shangri-La Singapore, positioned perfectly on the fringes of Orchard Road, the city’s shopping capital. Drop your bags and spend some time exploring the resort’s lush, manicured gardens, cascading waterfalls and magnificent pools – or head out for a little post-flight retail therapy.

For dinner, grab a cab and head to the iconic Lau Pa Sat hawker hall for an authentic glimpse into Singapore’s soaring foodie scene. This beautifully restored, historic building hosted Singapore’s very first wet market, and now stands as a national monument and gourmand’s paradise. There’s a breathtaking selection of hawker shops to choose from, but must-eats include Hainan chicken rice, laksa, kway chap and nasi lemak.

After dinner, amble just 15 minutes towards 28 Hongkong St, cunningly hidden behind an unassuming 1960s shophouse, and toast your escape with a cocktail – perhaps the venue’s signature Old Fashioned, masterfully built using Ferrand 1840 cognac, champagne reduction, hazelnut and orange bitters.

As the sun rises on your first full day in Singapore, it's well worth getting up for an early-morning dip while everyone else still slumbers before ambling your way down to breakfast and heading out to Suntec City for a serene, 60-minute hot stone massage treatment. Volcanic stones infused with natural oils will energise, revitalise and prepare you for the day to come.

There’s time to seek out some of Singapore’s most iconic sights – including Chinatown, Gardens by the Bay and Merlion Park – before your dinner reservation at Bochinche.

Ruled by fire and fuelled by smoke, Bochinche is an Argentinian steakhouse that showcases traditional cooking methods, cutting-edge culinary techniques and locally sourced steak in one of the city’s most unforgettable gastronomic journeys. Be sure to start with a nibble of the 36-month Cebo De Campo Iberico Ham with sourdough focaccia and sweet onion before expanding your palette with the grilled corn and buffalo mozzarella empanada. The pièce de résistance is of course the carefully selected, aged and cut in-house beef cuts. The 600+ day grass fed Black Label Argentine tenderloin is not to be missed. Of course, if you're sharing, the heavenly meat board is exactly what it says; heavenly. Get your fill of ribeye, tenderloin, hanging tender, sirloin and charred padron peppers on this platter for 2-4.

Rise and shine and catch the MRT to Sentosa Island, Singapore’s own slice of tropical paradise, for a fun-filled day at Universal Studios. Spend the day catching your favourite characters brought to life from across film and television across six themed zones, including Hollywood, New York and Ancient Egypt.

With just one day here, you want to be prepared, so be sure to grab an Express Pass to ditch the lines and ensure you can truly hit the down. Don't miss your chance to ride the Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure in The Lost World zone, face off with ancient history in Revenge of the Mummy, go toe-to-toe alongside Puss In Boots' in the Far Far Away zone and have your very own Michael Bay moment on TRANSFORMERS The Ride in the Sci-Fi zone. After you've had your fill of the action, dine your way across the park’s many inventive outlets and savour each adrenaline-pumping moment on some of the island’s most thrilling rollercoasters. Be sure to refuel at Fossil Fuels with a gochujang chicken hot dog with tater tots and soft drink.

In the evening, head to the iconic Newton Food Centre – filming location for the hit film Crazy Rich Asians and hawker food complex royalty. There’s plenty to try, including handmade fish balls suspended in a mouth-watering broth, sambal stingray, oyster omelettes and plenty more. Wash it down with ice-cold beers and let the good times roll.

After breakfast and some time spent enjoying Shangri-La Singapore’s world-class facilities, it’s time to check out one of the city’s most iconic landmarks – the Marina Bay Sands hotel/retail/casino outlet. Perched a staggering 57 levels above ground, it’s simply the best way to admire Singapore from sky-high. Take in the spectacular views of Gardens by the Bay, Supertree Grove, Singapore Strait and the Merlion Statue.

Return to earth and spend the afternoon at leisure before heading to JUMBO Seafood at Dempsey Hill for an authentic taste of the city’s extraordinary seafood – including its award-winning, signature chilli crab. The acclaimed restaurant chain draws on a wide variety of culinary influences – including Indian, Malay and Chinese flavours and methods – to bring the world a unique spin on the beloved dish.

Spend the evening exploring the area. Once a British army barracks, Dempsey Hill now stands as one of Singapore’s hippest neighbourhoods, offering a wide selection of upscale retail and dining outlets to please discerning travellers of any stripe, just moments from the hustle of Orchard Road.

After a little sleep in – go on, you deserve it! – head to Common Man Coffee Roasters for breakfast and Singapore’s best coffee. Singaporeans love to eat, and Common Man is the perfect example of the city’s shining food scene. If you’re feeling adventurous, try the organic eggs benedict, featuring braised ox cheeks, poached eggs and chive hollandaise on artisanal sourdough.

Afterwards, head to Singapore Zoo, famed for it’s ‘open concept’ rainforests and spectacular orangutan exhibit. While you're here, capture the memories with a personal photographer through Travelshoot, who will guide you to the best spots to remember your trip. Spend the day admiring the complex’s naturalistic exhibits and vast collection of wildlife before heading to PS.Cafe Petit at Tiong Bahru, in the heart of one of Singapore’s trendiest neighbourhoods, for a little taste of Paris. Sample the cafés chunky bunwiches and a refreshing gin and tonic before enjoying a further evening of adventure.
