Regent Taipei, an IHG Hotel

I am profoundly disappointed with the significant decline in service since my previous stay just a year ago. As a Diamond Ambassador with over fifteen years of loyalty to IHG, I find the recent experience unacceptable. Specifically: - Despite the guaranteed 2PM late check-out for Diamond members, as explicitly stated in the provided welcome letter (though subject to availability), the staff member who helped me check-in insisted on managerial approval. - The "welcome" fruit platter, consisting of two apples without utensils, was frankly laughable. Such a presentation is unbecoming of a purported five-star establishment. - The Wi-Fi service was consistently unreliable, with frequent disconnections requiring constant VPN reconnection. Furthermore the speed was very slow. - The breakfast experience was particularly egregious. The dining area was overcrowded, necessitating repeated interruptions of fellow guests to exit my table. Relocating to the opposite side of my table only resulted in constant disruptions from staff traffic. Despite the advertised 10AM breakfast closure, staff members began pressuring guests to vacate as early as 9:30 AM, creating an uncomfortable and rushed atmosphere. This level of service is a stark departure from the expected standards of hospitality. Consequently, I have canceled my upcoming reservation at the Regent Taipei and will refrain from future stays at this property.
