DAY 1 – Venice Full of towering Gothic-style buildings and canals, the watery city of Venice is equal parts unique and enchanting. Start your adventure with a leisurely day of exploration, strolling over the small islands and their connecting bridges. In the evening, meet up with your tour manager and the rest of your group for a welcome dinner. Accommodation: Hotel Villa Mabapa or Hotel Gabrielli Meals: Dinner
DAY 2 – Venice Today’s adventures through Venice begin with a boat ride to the island of Murano – home to some of Venice’s finest glassware. During your time here you’ll see colourful glass-crafts being created at a factory before returning to the centre of town for a guided walking tour. Start at the Piazza of San Marco and visit the nearby Golden Basilica of San Marco, built over centuries in a fusion of Byzantine, Roman and Venetian architecture. Admire the 17th-century Bridge of Sighs, then wander below the walls of the pink marble Doge’s Palace – the official residence of Venice’s ruler. Take a glimpse at it’s massive late-Gothic gate, known as the Porta della Carta, then enjoy the rest of the day at your own leisure. You may wish to continue on an optional afternoon gondola ride with music – an iconic addition to any Italian holiday. DAY 3 – Florence As you depart from Venice, immerse yourself in the rural beauty of Tuscany on a drive past its rolling fields and olive groves. Take a stop at a typical Tuscan farm for a wine tasting with delectable local specialties paired to each glass. Continue to Pisa to view the Piazza dei Miracoli and the iconic Leaning Tower – one of the most recognisable structures on earth. The monuments on the Piazza create a unique architectural tapestry of Romanesque and Gothic styles. By the end of the day you’ll arrive in the lively Renaissance city of Florence, prized for its art and architecture. Accommodation: Hotel Londra or Grand Hotel Mediterraneo Meals: Breakfast
DAY 4 – Florence Few cities can compete with the artistic and architectural contributions made by Tuscany’s beautiful capital, and today’s guided tour will show you why. Start off with a visit to the Accademia of Fine Arts, home to one of the world’s most iconic sculptures – Michelangelo’s David. Admire the towering dome of the Duomo and view the Baptistery’s renowned Gates of Paradise before heading to Signoria Square and finishing up with scenic waterside views at Ponte Vecchio. The day is now at your leisure, although you can join in on an optional tour of the Uffizi Gallery*. In the evening, take a ride through the beautiful Tuscan hills to a restaurant and enjoy a dinner of regional Tuscan fare served with unlimited wine and entertainment.

Florence and the fine arts are synonymous. This guided tour of the Uffizi Gallery provides insight to the history of the structure and its collections. Originally the private collection of the Medici family, the palazzo was opened to the public in 1765. Your tour highlights exceptional examples of Florentine painting with an aim to help you better understand the works of masters including Giotto, Botticelli, and Leonardo da Vinci. Tour participation guarantees immediate entry to the Gallery, with no lengthy waits in oftentimes two-three hour queues.

DAY 5 – Rome Say farewell to Florence and begin your drive to medieval Assisi, perched high on a hill in the Umbria region. Best known as the birthplace of St Francis of Assisi, the city has earned a UNESCO-listing thanks to its well preserved Roman ruins, winding medieval streets and sacred shrines. Take a quick trip to the city’s main attraction, the artistic 13th-century Basilica di San Francesco, and admire the beautifully painted frescoes of St Francis and St Giotto. Afterwards, continue to the heartland of the Roman empire – Rome – an astonishing city built on seven hills. End the day with dinner with the rest of the group at your hotel. DAY 6 – Rome Discover the history of ancient Rome on a sightseeing tour to the city’s historic sites. Start at the Roman Forum in the centre of the city, where processions, elections, criminal trials, public speeches and gladiatorial matches all once took place. View the triumphal Arch of Constantine, built to commemorate Emperor Constantine the Great’s decade of leadership over Rome. Head to the iconic Colosseum, the Roman Empire’s largest amphitheatre which seated up to 50,000 people. Stop at a local café for lunch and some people watching, sip a cappuccino, taste some famous Roman gelato or try an authentic Italian pizza. Tonight, enjoy dinner in a typical Roman restaurant with wine and music before taking a short night tour to admire the city lights. Accommodation: Grand Hotel Palatino Meals: Breakfast, Dinner
DAY 7 – Vatican City Full of religious influenced art, culture and architecture, Vatican City houses some of the world’s most famous paintings and sculptures. Start your adventures through the world’s smallest city-state with visits to the Gallery of Tapestries and Geographical Maps before arriving at the Sistine Chapel – the painted roof being universally lauded as one of Michelangelo’s greatest works. Continue to St Peter’s Square, passing Bernini’s famous colonnade to view St Peter’s Basilica which serves as the burial site of the saint and as a home to Michelangelo’s Pieta. The afternoon is free, although you can take an optional walking tour to visit Rome’s grand piazzas, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon and the baroque Piazza Navona. DAY 8 – Sorrento Begin your drive to Sorrento, keeping an eye out for the Abbey of Montecassino perched high on a mountaintop along the way. Spot towering Mt Vesuvius as you pass the Bay of Naples en route to Pompeii – the legendary city preserved in time after a thick carpet of volcanic ash covered the city almost 2,000 years ago. The tragic fossils of people attempting to flee with their children and pets are still visible, along with the Forum and the city’s temples to Apollo and Jupiter. After taking in a spectacular panoramic view of the Gulf of Naples, arrive in Sorrento where a group dinner awaits. Accommodation: Hotel Central Meals: Breakfast, Dinner
DAY 9 – Sorrento Beloved for its seaside views, soaring cliffs and busy marinas, Sorrento is quintessential coastal Italy. Today is at your leisure to sink into the flow of this waterside city – you might want to start with a stroll along the coastal road into the town which has long been loved by poets and artists. Take an optional full day tour to the enchanting Isle of Capri if you wish. Start off with a scenic boat ride to Capri’s shores, then explore the chic boutiques and shops of Anacapri where you can taste the island’s signature Limoncello. Indluge in La Dolce Vita in La Piazzetta’s Gardens of Augustus, taking a stop to view the famous Faraglioni rock formations while there. After a lovely day of sightseeing in Capri, you’ll return to your hotel just in time for a farewell dinner with the rest of your tour group. DAY 10 – Tour Ends Today marks the end of your tour and there are no further activities planned. Make your own way to the airport in Naples for your departure flight. Meals: Breakfast
