If you’re mad for MasterChef, you need to book tickets to Dubai, where the world’s first official MasterChef-themed restaurant is bringing the popular TV show to life.
Looking for a hotel in Dubai? Check out our exclusive deal for Jumeirah Emirates Towers here.
Here, it really is a case of ‘if you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen’ as diners who select the ‘Mystery Box’ menu option pick five ingredients and then challenge the restaurant team to whip up a dish in precisely 35 minutes.
Led by Venezuelan-born chef Maria ‘Margarita’ Vaamonde-Beggs, the restaurant offers ten options on the ‘Mystery Box’ menu, consisting of various proteins, vegetables and condiments.
Then, as the team gets to work, diners can enjoy a platter of starters, while – just like on the show! – keeping a close eye on the giant stopwatch suspended from the ceiling.
Margarita explains: “We are taking the Mystery Box concept from screen to plate and providing diners with that all-important emotional connection to their food — a theme that has seen the TV show generate such a loyal and passionate following all around the world.”
Margarita’s outstanding expertise spans 12 countries, including Venezuela, the USA and the UAE, with career highlights being relaunching the Four-Season Hotels and Resorts Buenos Aires, Argentina; launching Catch Dubai as Sous Chef; transferring to Catch LA as Executive Sous Chef; and returning to Dubai as Executive Sous Chef for Morimoto to work alongside the legendary Masaharu Morimoto.
For those who want to play it safe and simply enjoy their MasterChef-themed, quasi-industrial surrounds, the menu also features dishes curated by contestants from past seasons of MasterChef – including a handful of dishes from Australian champions and finalists.
Can’t make it over to Dubai? MasterChef Australia season 11 on Network 10 will just have to do!
