At a whopping US$50,000 a night (that’s about AU$68,000 for Aussies), the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island’s newest hotel room is really getting people talking…and that’s before we get to the part about this new suite being 16 feet below the Indian Ocean.
You may be thinking, “pfft, $50,000 a night, that’s nothing”, well did we mention that this new room is only available for a four-night stay, totalling about US$200,000 (approx. AU$275,000)?
This isn’t the first time the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island has got the press talking with their innovative ideas. The resort is also already home to Ithaa Undersea Restaurant, a glass eatery sitting five metres below the surface and offering 180-degree panoramic views of the vibrant coral gardens surrounding it.
But Ithaa is old news in the world of underwater hotel facilities. Now we’re all focused on the resort’s latest creation. THE MURAKA is the world’s first-of-its-kind residence with guests enjoying a breathtaking space that sits both above and 16 feet below the surface of the ocean.
“The completion of THE MURAKA is a personal lifetime achievement,” said Ahmed Saleem, a Director at Crown Company and chief architect and designer of the residence. “After years in the making, my team and I are proud to officially present THE MURAKA residence and its accompanying Maldivian experience to worldly travellers who crave the extraordinary.”
Guests who fork on the big bucks will be in for the experience of a lifetime. THE MURAKA is set offshore atop the Indian Ocean and features a stunning bedroom, gym, bar and sundeck on the upper floor, while beneath the surface you’ll find an underwater bedroom and bathroom surrounded by ocean views from the floor to ceiling windows.
said Stefano Ruzza, General Manager of Conrad Maldives Rangali Island. “From the first construction of Ithaa Undersea Restaurant to our second venture under the Indian Ocean, THE MURAKA, we are continuously making powerful enhancements to the property that are designed to attract the world’s most connected and knowledgeable travellers.”
As expected, guests will receive the finest 24-hour butler service as well as chef-prepared meals and use of a private boat throughout their stay. Guests are also automatically rewarded with Diamond status as part of the Hilton Hotels rewards scheme. Sounds pretty good to us!
