Daydream Island welcomes tourists back to its sandy shores following a mammoth restoration process in the wake of Cyclone Debbie’s devastation just two years ago. As the name suggests, Daydream island is a place of tremendous tranquillity. A fantasy-like land with unparalleled sea-views in the heart of the Whitsundays.

This idyllic paradise is located beyond the horizon amongst one of the most famous natural wonders of the world; The Great Barrier Reef. The reef is the largest living structure on Earth and Daydream Island is committed to protecting it through the adoption of environmentally sustainable practices. Some of these include water reticulation, power conservation and rubbish management to reduce landfill.
Daydream Island’s unique connection with the reef is shown through the re-imagined architecture and design, featuring an incredible man-made eco-friendly living reef spanning 200 metres. This free form coral lagoon is home to over 100 species of local marine life which can be examined from a range of activities including the Underwater Observatory or a guided snorkel. With education at its foundation, the Exploration Centre is led by a team of marine biologists who invite you to share their love and passion for all things ocean and conservation.
