Melburnians will be the first in the country to welcome in The Prosecco Festival, brought to you by the Prosecco Queen, Melissa Brauer.
It’s the bubbles of choice in Australia, it’s one of few wines that celebrates being polyamorous (we’re talking spritz galore, cheeky bellini’s & negroni sbagliato’s), it’s easy to quaff, it can be enjoyed as an aperitif or with food, and there’s now a festival dedicated solely to it.
It’s time to celebrate and bask in all of its glory, because The Prosecco Festival is coming to Melbourne on February 25th, 2018.
On the last Sunday of February, people will flock to Cargo Hall in South Wharf and enter prosecco heaven. The unique event will fold out in two sessions, both four hours, both just as glorious as each other. The first session will be held from 11am – 3pm (for the early-ish birds) and the second from 4pm – 8pm.
Tickets are available online for $50 a pop and include a genuine crystal Plumm teardrop tasting glass, as well as a goodie bag filled with, well, all the goods!
On the day, you’ll be able to explore a divine selection of the world’s most popular Prosecco; meet some true wine heroes, AKA the growers, winemakers and importers, and excite the senses with free tastings of the world’s best Prosecco.
Enjoy wines by the glass, learn all things Prosecco and food matches, sample some delicious oysters, local cheeses and caviar (fancy) and chat to some of the exhibitors including Box Grove Vineyard, Festival City Wines, Italian Wine Connection, Politini Wines, Regina Vino, Sam Miranda, SANTA & D’SAS, Symphonia Fine Wines, Vinea Marson, Vino Bambino, Vinomofo and Wines of the King Valley.
This glorious day wouldn’t be possible without Melissa Brauer, AKA, The Prosecco Queen and her desire to treat Melburnians to an event devoted to her favourite drop. Brauer has been extolling the virtues of Prosecco (Italian and Australian) for many years, travelling regularly to Italy’s home of Prosecco in the Veneto, and hosting masterclasses and wine dinners around Melbourne, dedicated to teaching people about this highly underrated wine variety.
The day will have you walking in thirsty and walking out a prosecco connoisseur, bags full with premium drops of Prosecco (yes, you can purchase these babies to go), bellies content with delicious Italian food and ears ringing with good tunes.
Due to space constraints and licensing restrictions, this is an adults-only event – children under 18 cannot be accommodated at any time. In other words, find a babysitter and celebrate because #itsproseccotime!
