Sunrise Beach Resort Hoi An is situated alongside a pristine beach close to one of Vietnam’s most popular cultural landmarks – Hoi An. This area is noticeably nicer than the more bustling coasts of Thailand, and well and truly free from the throngs of people who descend on some of the overcrowded beaches of Phuket and Bali. The nearby Non Nuoc beach in Da Nang was even crowned one of the Six Most Beautiful Beaches in the World by Forbes Magazine.
The lobby is impressive with huge ceilings and a view that expands out to the main swimming pool and the ocean beyond.
The atmosphere is very relaxed, summery, and modern. The friendly Vietnamese staff helped us with check-in and within moments we were whisked away to our rooms.
Everything about this resort involves water! There is an enormous main pool with various sections – for people to stand around in, a section for kids, and a jacuzzi as well. It’s simply spectacular. The crystal clear blue waters lie just moments from the spacious main pool, which itself is surrounded by a number of decorative pools.
Surrounding the pool are a number of palm trees and deck chairs. We loved the landscaping with vast pools of water in the decorative ponds, which just made everything seem so refreshing and relaxing.
Further down past the beachside restaurant is the infinity pool and the resort’s own private white sand sun-baking area with deck chairs. You get the best of both worlds really with the lap pool, the ocean beyond and the all-important cocktail service!
Imagine doing laps where the end point is the ocean and beyond. On either side of the pool is a man-made white sand beach, where you can lounge on the deck chairs. The ocean is again just moments away.
The resort consists of 222 luxurious rooms, suites and beachfront villas, all boasting fresh, open, contemporary features, designed by celebrity British architect, David Hodkinson.
There are two main room options in the main wing of the resort. The Deluxe Rooms are spacious and have a choice of either a king bed or two singles with soft fresh linen. The beds look out towards the balcony and the ocean. You can even sit on the undercover balcony and read up on what to do in Hoi An while taking in the spectacular view.
The bathrooms are well appointed, showers are enormous and have all the usual luxurious amenities. The array of brand name soaps and shampoos are replaced daily.
If you’re looking for even more luxury, the Sunrise Suite is simply massive (with a whopping 85sqm floor-plan) and contains a separate living area with a 49″ LCD flat-screen smart TV and other modern features.
Depending on your budget, this VIP Upgrade is a fantastic option.
The spa treatments at Sunrise Premium Resort Hoi An are a real highlight. While there are lots of affordable massage options in Hoi An town, we loved the elegance of the in-house Bliss Spa – and it’s a lot easier than having to travel for a massage.
The spa itself is the pinnacle of relaxation. You can cocoon yourself in the serene and soothing atmosphere where you choose your indulgence from a full range of treatments and therapies. The spa features individual treatment rooms for privacy, where you can let the soft sounds and soothing signature aroma of honey, cloves, coconut oil and golden turmeric to transport you to a whole other level of serenity.
Aside from the beautiful setting, there are experienced spa therapists with skilled hands who are delighted to give customised, individual attention. From hot stone therapies and massages to gentle herbal detoxification and anti-aging facials, they’ll handcraft the perfect spa experience. The spa uses premium Thann Spa products for the natural benefit of plant extracts which are believed to create balance and promote wellness. It’s an all-round exquisite experience that’ll leave you feeling like you’ve been on holiday for a lot longer than a few days.
Sunrise Premium Resort Hoi An offers a great variety of dining options including seafood and daily dishes at The Pool House, Vietnamese and Asian fusion at Spice Garden and Italian gastropub-inspired fare at The Lounge.
What we loved the most was the Vietnamese food on offer. Since Hoi An is considered the culinary capital of Vietnam, it makes sense that the resort boasts deliciously authentic Vietnamese cuisine.
The breakfasts were also absolutely amazing and made the most fantastic start to the day.
Evenings are bliss at the resort. Apart from the stunning view of the main lobby and front rooms from the beachside restaurant, the balmy evenings make for a beautiful night to relax with some of the resort’s expertly prepared cocktails under the stars.
We also took part in Sunrise’s famous traditional Vietnamese cooking class which includes food shopping, learning how to prepare, and dining on your own authentic creation. It’s a lot of fun and an impressive new skill to show off to friends and family back at home.
We were taught by a professional local Chef who knew all the ins and outs of authentic Vietnamese cuisine and how to create it. One of the dishes we learnt to cook was the famous Pho, which is now extremely popular back home in Australia (a definite dinner party crowd pleaser!).
While it’s tempting to spend all your time by one of the stunning pools, there are a wealth of other facilities to enjoy. We loved hiring bikes and taking a ride around the picturesque region during the day, having a hit of table tennis in the afternoon, or you can even pay a small fee and play on the big tennis courts in the evening beneath the floodlights.
There’s also a fully-equipped gym to work off any extra calories from all the exquisite food. The beach is also just a skip away and kayaking are available for use by resort guests. You can also delight in a variety of other water sports, from body boarding and wake boarding, to navigating the waters on a Banana Boat. The adventurous will be intrigued to try parasailing which is renowned along the Hoi An coast. Qualified Resort Activity Attendants are also on-hand to organise daily activities like beach volleyball and football too.

Sunrise Premium Resort Hoi An is located near the famous city of Hoi An. Known for its culinary delights, it’s a must-see attraction. You can catch a shuttle from the resort to Hoi An Town. Hoi An is famous for its cooking schools – we did a one day cooking course (but regretted not taking a longer course as we picked up lots of fantastic tips). Moments down the road in the Old Town of Hoi An, you can visit the markets filled with fresh local produce. There are literally hundreds of little restaurants and bars in Hoi An – far too many to visit them all, but we’d certainly suggest making at least two trips to town if you can find the time between dips in the pools back at the resort.
