The concept of the infinity pool is being taken to the next level with plans to build one on top of a London skyscraper – 55 storeys high, with 360-degree views of the city.
The Infinity London Tower could begin construction as early as 2020 and would boast a 600,000-litre pool with transparent sides and floor.
If you’re wondering how you’d reach this incredible pool, you’re not the only one. In Compass Pools’ vision, they explain: “Swimmers will access the pool through a rotating spiral staircase based on the door of a submarine, rising from the pool floor when someone wants to get in or out.”
Sounds legit.
It’s London, so the next challenge is the weather. A built-in anemometer will monitor wind speed, with plans to link it to the building management system to ensure the water stays at the right temperature and doesn’t go overboard to soak pedestrians down below.
If you thought all this was impressive, it gets better: the pool also plans to run on renewable energy, with the heating system using waste energy from the building’s air-conditioning.
Fitted with lights, the pool will be illuminated at night – did someone say pool party?
