Day 1: Broome

Welcome to tropical Broome, where your adventure begins. Meet your travel director and fellow travellers and get to know them over a welcome drink, then join them for a delicious dinner at the Sunset Bar and Grill with spectacular views of the Indian Ocean.

Day 2: Broome

Today, you have a full free day to explore this tropical hideaway. From a scenic flight over the Horizontal Falls to cruising through the falls on a boat (we recommend pre-booking, as this popular experience sells out fast), there are many options for you to explore the area. Enjoy a leisurely stroll along the pristine sands of Cable Beach and swim in its turquoise waters, or wander through Chinatown and shop for pearls. Tonight, sit back and relax with a drink to watch another spectacular sunset over Cable Beach.

Day 3: Broome to Fitzroy Crossing

Preserved for over 125 million years in the reef rock at Gantheaume Point are the footprints of long-extinct dinosaurs. The ancient history here combines with white sandy beach, deep red pindan cliffs and shimmering turquoise ocean to provide breathtaking photo opportunities and create life-long memories. After exploring this magical site, one of the best paleontological experiences in the world, bid farewell to the coastline as we head deep into the Kimberley. Arriving at Geikie Gorge, join your local guide on a relaxing boat cruise to take in the magnificent colours and structure of the gorge’s stone walls. Watch for freshwater crocodiles, fruit bats and wallabies as the 30-metre walls of the gorge tower above you. Afterwards, continue to Fitzroy Crossing.

Day 4: Fitzroy Crossing to Halls Creek

Today, stop at an Indigenous Art Gallery and experience what this fascinating space is doing for the local community. This is a great opportunity to meet local artists and purchase pieces to take home with you. Discover the town of Halls Creek, rich in history and culture and your home for the night. Spend some time at leisure, maybe exploring the 40-minute Heritage Town Walk or heading to Moola Bulla Lookout for impressive views of the town and surrounding countryside. Tonight is reserved for dinner and wine with your travel companions.

Day 5: Halls Creek to Emma Gorge

Today, visit the Argyle Diamond Mine, the world’s largest supplier of coloured diamonds. A local Indigenous guide will join you for an extensive behind-the-scenes look at the diamond-mining process and teach you about the cultural significance of the mine to the local people. Drive along the Gibb River Road and deep into El Questro Wilderness Park towards your home for two nights, Emma Gorge Resort. Nestled at the foot of the impressive red Cockburn Range, the resort is hidden away down an assuming dirt road that leads to an oasis of native pandanus and palms. Your safari-style tented cabins help you feel truly immersed in nature.

This morning, depart for Kununurra, known as the ‘food bowl’ of WA. Visit the family-run, award-winning Hoochery Distillery, where the family will take you behind the scenes of the distillery before you sit down and try their famous Ord River Rum Cake for morning tea. Stop off for a visit to the historic Durack Homestead Museum before embarking on a boat cruise along the Ord River. Departing from Lake Argyle, take an exhilarating ride with a local guide, who will show you remarkable landscapes and an abundance of birdlife, before experiencing a magical sunset on the water as you arrive in Kununurra. This evening, you’re invited to a privately hosted exclusive dinner at the Kununurra Sandalwood Factory in the heartland of Kununurra’s sandalwood plantations. Passports & Visas

  • A visa may be required. It is the traveller’s responsibility to ensure they’re holding a current visa for the countries they’re visiting. If the traveller is on a non-Australian passport, a valid re-entry visa may be required.
  • Important: Please start arranging your visa at least 6-8 weeks prior to departure to account for any delays due to consulate operating hours and processing time.
  • A valid passport with a minimum validity of 6 months beyond your return travel date is required for all passengers (including children and infants).

Health & Vaccinations

  • Travellers are advised to check with their local health professional at least 45 days prior to departure, as some vaccinations require 30 days or more to be effective.
  • Proof of vaccination is not usually required unless you are coming from an infected area.
  • Proof of Yellow Fever vaccinations are required for entry some countries, in particular Africa. Please check with your health professional that you hold the appropriate vaccination entry requirements for your destination.

Tipping

Tipping and gratuities are not included in the package, unless otherwise stated, and are at your own discretion. As a guide, approx. A$14 – A$20 per person, per day is the industry standard.

Fitness Requirements

  • Travellers should have a good level of physical fitness and mobility and must be able to negotiate uneven surfaces and climb stairs.

Transfers

  • If transfers are included on your package, please note that these are only available on the first and last day of your tour. Arrival and departure transfers are included between the hours of 6am and 6pm only. If you arrive outside these hours a supplement may apply.
  • Flight details must be advised as per Tour Operator requirements when they get in contact with you. Failure to provide your confirmed flight details within the time period specified by the Tour Operator will result in forfeiting your transfer.
