Volcanoes National Park Safari Helicopter Experience in Big Island
The Volcanoes National Park Safari is a 55-minute helicopter tour showcasing Hawaii’s youngest and most active volcanic landscapes. Departing from Hilo, the flight reveals breathtaking views of Kilauea’s summit caldera, Mauna Loa’s lava fields, and the East Rift Zone with its dynamic lava formations. The route follows Chain of Craters Road, descending 3,700 feet to the ocean, with sights of black sand beaches, native rainforests, and remote lava terrain. Passengers also see orchid farms and hidden volcanic craters from the air. Throughout the journey, pilots provide educational commentary on the island’s geology and cultural heritage. This aerial adventure offers an unforgettable opportunity to witness the dramatic natural forces that continue to shape the Big Island.
