Rioja is considered the best of Spain\u2019s wine regions, known for its use of tempranillo grape to make red wines. Perched in a valley in North Central Spain and spanning nearly 150 kilometres, the wine-making area is split into three sections \u2013 Rioja Alta, Rioja Alavesa and Rioja Baja \u2013 all of which have slight geographical and climate differences. As such, Rioja wines can stretch from \u2018silky, fragrant and ready to drink\u2019 to \u2018rich, velvety and going straight to the cellar\u2019.
